First, sorry if this has been already asked elsewhere.

I've read somewhere that if you use imported cartridges you need to change your Switch region before being able to play them. I find that totally weird, so I need some confirmation from someone who has actually used imported games.

I'm in Japan but there are several games I want to import from the US since they're not released yet in Japan (and some will never be), but if I'm going to need to change the region everytime I want to play... that gives me pause...

Nope, not the case. I play my Japanese I Am Setsuna and American Cave Story + with my UK account. I do need to access their respective stores to download DLC though.

@FX102A Thanks for the clarification!
I'm looking into importing DOOM since it is going to be a long time until it releases in Japan... I'll still need to make a US account to download the multiplayer, right?

@maruse Depends on how its downloaded. If it is downloaded through the game itself, it may seek out the data itself and not require. If you however have to go to the eShop page to start the download then you probably will need to go to the store with the matching region.

I know for the PS3 and Vita I needed to download the DLC from the NA store for my NTSC-U/C physical games.
