I... don't disagree. Just not sure what point you're trying to make
All have sinned and fall short of Gods glory. Wages of sin is death. Romans
God so loved the world He sent His only Son- whoever believes on Him has eternal life. Unless you believe, you will die in your sins. Whoever believes, rivers of living water flow within them. John
@JaxonH I kinda figured you were trying to argue the ending was good by balancing good with bad with the whole "Pyra/Mythra have lost their memories" angle. I just don't really see it that way even with that being true, basically the ending is far more sweet than bitter, y'know?
Not that I have any problem with that. Mythra is one of my favourites.
Alone, a force. Together, a force of nature.

It was more sweet than bitter, but I also think there's more to it than everything working out perfectly

The way I see it, them losing their memories (or even dying for that "bittersweet" factor) goes completely against what the story built up for.
Throughout the game, Pyra/Mythra see memories as a burden, and they're weighed down by the fact that they have the power to destroy, hence their reason why to go to Elysium was to die. Rex shows up and effectively says "nah, that's stupid" and shows them a new purpose in life, accepting the two in his heart. They're reborn, finding happiness in him, and later on reflect that they were at their happiest with Rex, a stark contrast to their initial nihilism.
The themes of XC2 is conquering nihilism and finding one's place in the world. To suddenly wipe away Pyra/Mythra's happier memories or kill them off doesn't fit in with those ideals.

I run a YouTube/Twitch channel for fun. Check me out if you want to!
Please let me know before you send me a FC request, thanks.
I personally didn't find the ending that special. Maybe I just didn't pay that much attention to the finer details. I found the cutscene where Poppi punches Rex and the "I love all of you" scene more emotional.
It's its, not it's.

Having finally completed the game I just gotta tell the OP to be careful how you title your topics as what happened is basically I figured what would happen just by reading the title.
The first Xenoblade Chronicles game is still the best imo as it has hardly any flaws especially because of the ending when you compare the two. I enjoyed this game but it does have some questionable decisions.
Such as chests in opening them only to have the stuff that comes out end up right behind it or something then and then there's the gacha blade system... the rare blades you want to add to the drivers for more arts? Oh boy I never seen such just in my eyes really weird looking or just awful to look at characters some feel like they just don't seem to fit in naturally with the main party's blades and just shesh the overall male to female ratio is stupid like there is double the females if not triple the amount of females to the males and I say that because even the males seem like they could just be qualified as genderless. There's also the issue of no character outfit changes for when you equip like in the previous games which I don't like and instead we have just accessories with two slots feeling really limited. I can go on but yeah still a great game despite its flaws just that I would pick 1 over 2.
@AbsoluteZer0Nova Xenoblade 1 is a damn good game, it's tied for my favorite Wii game, but it is not perfect by any stretch of the imagination with some awful stuff of its own. Sidequests in the game are utter trash with awful sidequests and wandering NPCs depending on the time, with ubiquitous amounts of timed content that bogs down the pace. Colony 6 reconstruction especially sucks. Black Liver Beans and Ice Cabbages are the worst of the bunch. Combat balance is also not as good as either Xenoblade X or 2, due to that absolutely stupid nerf you or the enemy can get if you or they are -6 levels below the other, leading to either you needing to grind for Agility gems or levels, or you curbstomping enemies with ease.
While you can argue that Xenoblade 2 also has bad sidequests and the RNG Blade system can suck, from a pure gameplay perspective I find Xenoblade 1 is the weakest of the three games since X and 2 refine a lot of the bad stuff 1 had. Sidequests take a drastic upgrade, combat is tweaked in the right places, collectables (with the exception of X) are better handled too, 2 mostly got rid of weather-based Unique Monsters, among others.
I have my major complaints about X and 2's story compared to 1 (and Xenogears), but in terms of a game itself I'd go back to X and 2 before 1 (and Xenogears).
Also you mention the ending which piques my interest. Which game are you referring to, 1 or 2? Because I liked both games' endings fairly equally.
