They each have their perks.

Gameplay is better refined in FEW, and there's more strategy and user friendy mechanics. The unlockable conversations between characters are also really nice.

HW has a lot more variety and references to the source material. More unique characters, more costumes, more unique challenges, a lot of missions, more kinds of enemies... Etc.

I have heard that fire emblem warriors got too many characters with the same moveset.

for HW they are all unique in their own way ??

Yes, there's no two characters that share the exact same move set in HW.

I've been working on the Termina map, were there really mask barriers in Majora's Mask or just a Hyrule Warriors decision? Like to progress in the Great Bay area you need the Goron Mask obtained from the snow area?

My furthest progress with Majora's Mask got as far as completing the swamp and snow areas but haven't been able to progress for years because of my 3DS issue and the VC versions are all 50Hz and play poorly.

@Grumblevolcano In Majora's Mask? Not really anything like a Mask Barrier, but you needed the main masks to get to places. Like the Goron Mask to roll and jump over bits, or the Zora Mask to survive under water etc.

You needed the masks to advance in their respective areas and solve specific puzzles ties to their abilities all over Termina.

Other areas were blocked by certain obstacles. For example, to enter the mountain you need to have a bow (obtained in the swamp), to enter the bay you need Epona (who you can get after the mountain), and finally to access the canyon you need the hookshot (which you get in the bay).
