Gen 5 had a bunch of mons I didn't care for, at all. Don't care about the story in the games either. That's where it really started to go downhill. The art style and battle sprites were ugly too. None of that please.
What if all 100 Pokemon or however many can be new/focal played uniquely, at least to some extent. What if they weren't just stat sticks that had all of the same abilities with different appearances that don't affect anything and differently colored versions of fire blast. That could be cool.
I like the idea of a soft-reset a la Black and White, and feel we're due one sometime soon (Ruby/Sapphire was arguably kind of a soft reset, with the inability to trade with older games).
I still insist that we don't need many new Pokemon though. I think many found issue with Black/White's Pokemon because many were essentially Unova versions of previous Pokemon. How about a mix of entirely new Pokemon and, where old Pokemon are used to fit any particular niche (e.g. the typical cave bat), we have a new form? That way every Pokemon in the game will be new in some sense.
I mean new forms are essentially new Pokemon insofar as Pokemon are considered different if they have shuffled stats and moves with a new design. The problem is that Pokemon is so inconsistent with its alternate forms. What are they this time; forms you can switch between, forms you can't switch between, forms you can switch between but you have to do a specific thing out of battle, forms that you can switch between but not in new gen games because the mechanic that determined it was removed like seasons, new evolutions of previous gen Pokemon, mega/temp evolution, mega evolutions that only work if you have a remake in the same generation, Alolan forms, or Z fusion alpha strike heart+?
Like, there's so much baggage in this series that really deserves to be boiled down to reduce the prohibitive complexity which longtime fans have grown accustomed to gradually. It's mind-boggling that a mass appeal series like Pokemon still has so much archaic nonsense in it — they just made Monster Hunter accessible for chrissakes. Like no game plays as complex as Monster Hunter, especially Pokemon XD (pun not intended).

Could you say this again in a language I can understand?

Blame Game Freak's obsession with being "unique" for that, they want every game to be a special snowflake so they keep replacing old gimmicks with new ones to the point where the series has become the convoluted mess it finds itself in now. It's ironic, because they've become so obsessed with simplicity to the point that they've hampered the difficulty and the map design because "WAH mobile gamers", but they haven't done anything to clean up this mess at all. If anything, they just keep making it worse and worse.

I'm fine with the smaller number of new Pokemon in Generation VI and VII. It really wasn't something that ever bothered me. I just want quality Pokemon games. I want the Switch Pokemon to be really good.
tbh, the Alolan idea gives them a great excuse to not make as many new Pokemon. So I'm expecting it to not be dramatically different than how Sun/Moon worked, except with a new region for new Pokemon (I assume the popular theory is a colder region for Gen 8).
Which is probably good instead of being required to make 100+ worthwhile, original designs every 3 years.
I would love a remake of gen 1 fully 3d. basicly start again with consoles...maybe a dlc or 2 with new regions to explore...once they have build the games engine and mechanical aspect of the game. Surely a 2 year cycle of games won't be to difficult that could be gen 2 and so on. You could do some much more with the pokemon games and the story
If they remade Kanto in 3D all of the perfect right angles would look strange. Really, the least they can do in Pokemon Switch is let us control the camera in 3D.
@Haru17 If they remade Kanto in 3D, it would need to be reimagined without the perfect right angles, something I'm sure GameFreak is capable of doing. Now, I'm not sure that I'd WANT them to do that, but I doubt it would be a straight remake of existing maps.
The number doesn't matter to me as much as the quality. Introducing new Pokemon that fit within the universe without simply outclassing ones we already have(power creep). I would also like to see more regional variants and of Pokemon from across the generations. I really really like that idea from a lore standpoint.
I would also like to see Pokemon of new, or very rare type combinations. Something like an ice/fighting or a water/steel type.
For me, quality over quantity is always the preference.
Though honestly, I wouldn't mind if we had NO new Pokemon, but instead an original mix of Pokemon from different eras. Perhaps just some regional variants instead. Actually, I would find the idea of an entire region focused on regional variants to be interesting as well.

@crimsontadpoles An official game is extremely unlikely. But there are good rom hacks that do that. Pokemon Storm Silver is a hack of Soul Silver with a nicely increased level of challenge and every Pokemon obtainable in game up through 4th gen. There is also some added content as well. There are similar versions of BW and BW2 from the same guy.
