Topic: How can I change the age restrictions of my child’s Nintendo Switch?

I have a 12-year-old daughter. I understand that parental controls are for restricting games that would be too much for someone her age, but I realise it’s kinda useless when her older brother lets her watch him play mature video games. Besides, she’s very mature for her age. Of course, I don’t think it’s wise to let her buy ten different games, but I was thinking maybe two or three and then I’m turning it back on.

She watched her older brother play DOOM and ever since, she wanted to play it. She also wants to pre-order a downloadable copy of Borderlands. I decided to turn off the restrictions for her software, but she still couldn’t access it. We live in a pretty rural area so I don’t think I can buy it at our local GameStop or Best Buy.

Should I just buy it online? Or are there any other ideas?

@tremoille Parental Controls: bottom of switch home screen, open the gear icon Then select Parental Controls.

Settings can be set to child, pre-teen, teen, adult (Or custom, if those pigeon holes don't suit you). But if you want the parental controls turned off altogether, at the bottom of the screen in the Parental Controls section, I think it says "Press (X)" to turn them off. I didn't see it for a while. You can always turn them back on if you want.

Note, if you opted to use the Switch parental controls app on your phone, you can only access parental controls from the app. If you never used the app, you can disregard this comment.

Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Game Stop, estarland sell games, but as you've seen at brick & mortar stores, they don't stock the shelves with every game. That's a normal issue regardless of age ratings. So, you may have to order online.

Personally, I usually try to buy games through Best Buy, because you earn rewards, not huge rewards, buy when you buy $60 games you can get a $5 credit every few games.
