It also shows that mario kart 8 dx is downloaded yet the amount of space he has doesnt matchup with how much space mk8dx uses.

What really confuses me is why they would have a folder for Virtual Console. It says add to virtual console folder which why would you do when it's not virtual console? It seems so weird to just have a folder for that thing everyone has been asking for. Also the fact for rooms you pick MK8 Deluxe, Arms, or Splatoon. No Minecraft or Rocket League, or even an other button. Lastly, that's the old youtube logo. Doesn't make sense why on a new system they would put an old logo.

I think the idea is that it was just an user created folder.

For example, I can go to my 3DS and create a folder named "PSP Games".

I’m on board with it being real. You’d think developers have access to it to incorporate new features in upcoming games. That could open up access to it to more people. I don’t see the point in someone going through the trouble to make this a fake video. But it’s possible as well. I’m just hopeful. I’ve been hoping to see an overhaul to the home page though. Which you don’t really get with this.

@DTMOF84 Remember that time when someone went through the trouble of 3D printing a ''Nintendo NX'' to fool the entire internet? Or the ''Smash leaks''? People do this all the time.

@Octane I remember the NX stuff and never thought they looked like anything convincing. This is a good fake if it is.

@DTMOF84 Maybe. It's very easy to fake, it takes a lot less work to make something like this look convincing. Plus, the font doesn't match. And there are more inconsistencies. The "leaker" saying it's because it's "in beta" sounds fishy to me as well, an easy cop out.

To be fair the second wave of smash leaks was legit. And even though it was literally off screen footage of the game some people still said it was fake. And with the NX stuff some of the leaks were legit. For those there were entire channels on YouTube built on not believing those rumors... and they hung onto that even after the October reveal.

With that difference in font, it's a fake for me. Shame, as the supposed update sounded great.

I have a chronic lack of time, for everything.

Now playing: Okami HD, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Could someone link me the original post/video for these leaks, if it still exists?

@The64Master the original was taken down but here's a version of it. https://youtu.be/C2lIOH3uufg you can also just search YouTube for Nintendo 5.0 and find a lot of talking heads about it.

It's too good to be true that Nintendo would make one epic dump of an online update like this

I'm pretty sure it's not real but I don't understand why people are saying it's "too good to be true". I don't really see anything in it that's particularly outlandish. From top to bottom in the video:

1. The ability to sort/organise tiles. A standard thing on pretty much every device
2. Folders also a standard feature, exists on both Wii U and 3DS
3. Lobbies, a standard feature which they will likely add when online becomes paid
4. Microphone .... the Switch lacks a mic but it could support it via an optional accessory
5. Media apps and a web browser, again standard things that even the 3DS has
6. Cloud Saves. Nintendo has already said this will be part of their online service
7. Themes. Easy My Nintendo fodder and already a thing on the 3DS

1, 2 & 7 would likely come in the same update
3, 4 & 6 will likely come when paid online launches (especially 6)
5 could come at any time even without an update

As I said earlier in this thread, if anything I'm sceptical of the video because of how little it has in it. I don't think someone would risk their job over something so trivial. I also doubt that Nintendo really gains that much from a strategic leak of system software. Lastly this isn't something Nintendo needs to share with third parties. If you're a third party developer you don't need to know that Nintendo is introducing cloud saves and folders.

Yeah, I don't think we saw anything there that was beyond the realms of possibility - most of the stuff shown was pretty 'safe' (eg. the Switch already has NicoNico, so adding Hulu/Netflix/YouTube wouldn't be a great leap) ..and even the more fanciful things shown, like lobby management, are quite plausible - it'd make sense, for example, that Nintendo might look to address some of the criticisms it received for the Switch's chat functionality - and, based on what little we saw of it, it was difficult to get a read on exactly what was going on (eg. chat may have still been running through the companion app, just with the added ability of being able to manage the lobby/mute people from the Switch OS perhaps?) ..the video might not be legit, but I wouldn't say that any of the content contained within it was 'too good to be true' - quite the opposite really

Just one further thought - does the fact that the video keeps getting taken down add to its potential legitimacy perhaps? ..it just begs the question in my mind as to why Nintendo would be motivated to take down a fake video? ..there are countless other fakes/mock-ups that don't get banned - if this isn't real, why would Nintendo care about it? (..unless it isn't them who keep taking it down at all - and the creator is just 'going the extra mile' by making it appear as though Nintendo are trying to cover it up??)

I'm still leaning towards 'fake', but there's something compelling about this particular 'leak' that just makes me wonder...!

So, if it was taken down, that could give an insight that it could be real, and it is really the only credible evidence to prove that the leaks could be real.

I just won't keep my hopes up...

I also think we'll see a lot of these features eventually added but not as a big lump sum. I was really surprised they didn't do a kind of makeover update just before Christmas. I'm sure a lot of new people from outside of the Nintendo ecosystem were a little surprised by how bare bones it was and how poorly organized the eshop is.

I think that people says it's too good to be true because it is all at once in only one update, while usually we get updates where you don't even notice the difference (stability updates), not because those features are too good to be true in general
