Whoever would have access to beta firmware would be on a short list and under a non disclosure. So it would be pretty risky to leak. I wish it was true but I don't know if they're that fan friendly. Although they've had almost a year to design it since there's been no real changes to the Switch except color inversion.
I'm putting it at a rather generous 30% chance of being real just because of how bizarre it would be to put this much effort into faking a firmware update. If it's fake, the amount of effort put in doesn't seem to be anywhere near worth the limited response it would get.
Who ever has done this has gone to a great deal of trouble! I err to the side of fake but one of the best fakes yet. (If it's real, it's very pleasing to see how fast the interface is.)
I never drive faster than I can see. Besides, it's all in the reflexes.
Huh, so this looks to be a fake but there's still hope that's legit.
I'm not too fussed if it turns out to be fake. All these new additions seem realistic enough and most of it was implemented on 3DS and/or Wii U. So we may not get this mega firmware, but I wouldn't be surprised if we get all of these features spread across a couple firmwares in the coming months.
I really think that's legit..would be quite a hard thing to fake I would imagine? .im loving the idea of that new interface so much though it could be clouding my judgement! Lol ..here's to hoping though
@SwitchbladeSam It's just a menu. Anyone with decent photoshop skills and an understanding of film editing software could put something like this together. There's no programming involved. Still, not everyone can pull something like this off, and the only thing that gives it away right now is the font (and the fact that 1) someone could fake this easily, and 2) it's too good to be true). Whoever made this clearly put a lot of time and effort into making this.
I'm always sceptical of 'leaks', but I do think that a lot of the content in that video will come to the Switch over time
Folders: Commonplace on many OS's - wouldn't be a surprise to see them added to the Switch's OS
Media apps: The Switch already has NicoNico - and I believe that Hulu (and possibly Netflix IIRC) have already confirmed that their Switch apps are 'good to go' - so I think that it's very likely that we'll see a whole wave of them before too long
Internet browser: We already know that the Switch has a hidden browser, so it's very likely that it'll have a dedicated 'tile' at some point
Twitch: I don't think that users will be able to stream their gameplay, but I could see the Switch getting a dedicated app to view Twitch streams on (especially as Nintendo appear to be increasing their eSports presence)
Party chat: The last Switch firmware update added 'invite notifications' - a way to accept/manage those invites through the browser seems like a logical 'next step'
Virtual Console: We've had Neo Geo games for a while - followed by Arcade Archives...so additional 'legacy content' seems inevitable (in one form or another)
Themes: There's already a 'Themes' tab in the menu - so, again, it seems likely that it'll be expanded upon at some point
...that's not to say that I necessarily believe that those features will all come in the next firmware update -
or that I think that the video is legit - but I do think that most/all of the features contained within the video will get rolled out eventually (..and if I were to set about making a 'convincing fake', those are the types of plausible features that I'd look to include - who knows, maybe we'll even get an alternate 'g'? )
