Topic: Horizon chase turbo

Any word on a release date. We hear things about a incoming release and then silence. Some indies get a push and others get a surprise release.

Just got this game the other day and can't seem to stop playing it.

It's so fun and addictive. Like, really fun and addictive. I liked the mechanics of Trailblazers more but, this is just a different kind of racer. A throwback to Outrun in modern HD cel shaded graphics.

Anyone playing this game? Am I the only one to discover this gem?

Agreed this game is pure fun! The gameplay is tight and the visuals are great

It caught my attention immediately, but visuals alone can be deceiving. There was no guarantee the gameplay was going to hold up.

But it did. It held up to an immaculate degree. This is one of the best indie games I've played, and exactly how I imagined Outrun would translate into the modern era. Everyone who's played it that I've seen, like on YouTube and Reddit, loves this game to death.

What I I really love is all the modes, and World Tour is the best. I love World Tour modes. And 109 tracks? My goodness. They never end! Plus Tournament mode, Endurance mode, pretty sure time trials are in since it does ghost data... and maybe one more mode on top of that. 4 player splitscreen... it's the full package.

It’s nice to see more games like this on Switch. We are becoming spoilt for choice with non sim racers.

Been the only game I’ve played since it released looks way better in action than in screenshots,a ton to do and the races are short so I don’t mind the grind.I’ve been waiting for a decent racers other than MK8 and this one delivers.

Just downloaded this game. Cannot wait to play it properly tonight. Had a quick go and the game just feels right!

GRIP was kinda meh imo. Decent but... meh.
Trailblazers was crazy fun. But it had issues in other areas.
Horizon Chase Turbo is the pinnacle of Outrun style arcade racing. Just excellent.

Still excited for Sonic Team Racing, though it’s more of a cart racer. Oh, and Xenon Racer looks waaaay awesome. Like F Zero meets an arcade racer.

I don't quite like the visuals, although the other features I really do, so I guess I'll end up buying it on sale.

What I don't like is the overly simplification of objects like trees, with low polygon count. What's that supposed to emulate? Saturn and Playstation era? Games didn't look like this.

Really enjoying this game! It's like the perfect mash-up of Top Gear and Turbo Outrun. I'm working my way through the World Tour first, only moving to the next location once I've got 100% on the current. A really great game.

Is anyone else experiencing some weird bugs?

@bixente I've experienced one bug so far. It was one of the Chile races in World tour mode, can't remember which one, and I was struggling with it so kept doing "Retry". After a few, the course glitches and the track disappeared. Did it once more afterwards, and then everything disappeared. A simple reboot fixed the problem, and I've not had the problem since.

I've noticed a visible frame drop when using a boost when amongst a lot of other cars e.g. on the opening lap. Not a major issue, but just thought I'd point it out.

Final thing, which is more of an annoyance than anything, but when getting the start line boost, I've found in the latter levels of World Tour, your car has better acceleration and you always go into the back of another car due to it being too crowded... so the boost is actually nullified and thus pointless. Anyone else noticed this, or am I missing a work around?!

Hasten to add, if anyone is sitting on the fence on purchasing this game, that none of the above has impacted my enjoyment of the game at all.

Ah, same here. It's so addictive going from country to country, collecting all the super trophies. So far I've completed San Francisco, Chile, Brazil, and South Africa. They've picked out some great locales.

@bixente Nice! I think I'm at the same point as you in World Tour as just finished Greece - also doing all the Super Trophies before moving to next location.

The boost at the start of the race going into the back of cars in front is definitely getting more annoying now that I have faster cars unlocked... Not sure if it's something they can fix, but essentially you're better NOT getting a boost at the start...!

Have you gotten onto the global leaderboards for fastest times?

@bixente No, not yet. I've literally been playing on the train to and from work since the day it launched. Not played it at home at all yet, so never connected to the internet. I hope my times can be uploaded retrospectively...!

I love the look of this game. It is exactly how i pictured an indie Cruis'n would look and it is gorgeous. The soundtrack is great as well and syncs well with the great look and fast gameplay. I have been playing this in short bursts when i take a break from Smash and its great for pick up and play in short bursts. Hopefully we can see more arcade style racers make an appearance on the Swith soon and especially a Top Gear Rally successor.

Enjoying this a LOT, don't remember when last time was the case except Mario Kart ^^
