Anyone have issues with TV input lag? I played for quite a few hours handheld, but when I switched to the TV, I became wayyyy worse at the game due to about a half second of input lag. This game is too precise to not play handheld, I feel

no - but as already mentioned - try to switch your TV to game mode. What kind of TV do you have ?

Spectacular game. Played it a lot today. Controls are tighter than Kramer's pants in that Seinfeld episode, graphics are gorgeous, soundtrack is amazing, overall game design is phenomenal.

try to google your TV's model and search for "game mode" and try to activate that. I experience no lags whatsoever when playing docked.

This game is awesome in every single sense of the word. I'm almost 40 hours in and loving every single second... but there some places that are really, REALLY, challenging, otherwise this has become my favorite Metroidvania of all time. Even surpassing Super Metroid.

I'm so in love with this game. I know it's indie, but £10 feels like I've stolen it for how much this game offers.

Hughesy- I know what you mean. This might be my favourite Switch game now. I'm a bit stuck now though. Coped ok with the first few bosses but now I've hit a wall lol

Maruse, given you're 40 hours into it, did you have problems with the Soul Master? That whole area drove me nuts (originally wrote something different but noticed this is a family friendly site and modified my language), the Soul sanctum, the city of tears.

@bixente I just beat him on my second attempt. I'm about 8 hours in, and have 5 charm notches. I managed it through using the Quick Focus and Baldur Shell charms, basically 'brute forcing'. Hitting and dodging as much as I can and healing up quickly whenever I saw a break in his pattern. I lucked out through the second phase; I still had plenty of health and managed that part of the fight pretty easily.

Hope it helps.

just finished the game with the 3rd ending (beating Nightmare Grimm and Radiance). It took me 44h and 6 min and I have a completion rate of 102%.

Lost countless of lives trying to beat Nightmare Grimm but I got better and better every time I tried him. I think that I easily tried to beat him for 3-4 hours alone. At the end, when you have the pattern and timing right - he is fairly easy - but sometimes I lose focus and patience leading to my demise Awesome game

Thanks for the advice Bart. I finally managed to clear Soulie a couple days ago which really opened the game up for me. I realize a big thing for me when facing bosses is my mindset. For a while I'd been playing with a defeatist mindset no composure, zero confidence, and a lack of patience. But I finally settled down and approached the bosses with the calm necessary and figured out their patterns. Today alone I knocked off Dung Defender, the Mantis Lords and another one of those Warrior Dreams...forget the name.

Gameplay_Matters

I just did something terrible. I went off traveling and found a comfy bench. So I got curious and went to places I shouldn't have. The enemies were fairly easy so I moved forward, which is exactly what the game wanted me to do. And then I stepped into the trap, doors closed on both sides, 4 enemies at once. I can get there easily, but fighting the enemies plus my shadow is terrible. I can claim it back, but with the enemy count it seems impossible to find a moment to recharge my health and I die again... Catch-22... 3000+ geos trapped.

(I have plenty rancid eggs but didn't know how to use them so the guy who can call the shadow back is out of reach too.)

@Switchcraft git gud, mate. Or, well, the guy who can call your shadow is in Dirtmouth, past the well, in the graveyard, behind the door locked with a simple key.. If ya didn't already know.

@bixente Ah yes. Dark Souls taught me the importance of this. Relax, observe, defend. Only then you can see your enemies' openings and failings. I haven't gotten as far as you yet, but I just arrived at the Mantis Lordswhen I last left the game. I got my arse whooped! but during that whooping, I noticed a few pretty obvious ways get around their attacks and beat them. Also, I'll be much better prepared for the other two ganging up on me all of a sudden next time I face them

Hearing a lot of praise for Hollow Knight but don't know if it's for me. Enjoyed the likes of Super Metroid and Shantae but found Axiom Verge dull despite clearly great art design and similar praise. Any thoughts??

@bluemage1989 I LOVED Hollow Knight and also found Axiom Verge to be dull and somewhat derivative. The vibe it has might be considered a cross of sorts between Dark Souls and Super Metroid, but with a lot of dry humor mixed in for good effect. And, of course, the lovely hand-drawn art brings it all together.

@bluemage1989 I've yet to try Axiom Verge, but I can only praise the ever loving heck out of Hollow Knight.

I dunno what to say to convince you, but so far I've sunk 15 or so hours into the game, getting a constant stream of lovely upgrades and new moves (all of which are fun to use) and I feel like I haven't even scratched the surface of what the game has to offer. If the game ends in the next hour I'll feel like I got my money's worth, but I've read it can go on for well over 50 hours and I'm looking forward to every second of it.

The platforming is super tight, the combat is surprisingly deep, the art is beautiful and the atmosphere has this lovely taste of melancholy that I savour every drop of.

For 15 quid you can hardly go wrong, I reckon. You got any specific expecations you're worried it won't live up to?

Right now I'm bashing my head against the second fight with the Crystal Guardian. I bested him pretty easily in the first fight, but now that he's all 'roided up he's giving me quite a bit of trouble. I just KNOW I can beat him if I fight him patiently and carefully, but so far I've gotten careless every time. And given that he does double damage now, just a handful of mistakes will send me back to the bench. Which, thankfully, is no more than 15 seconds away... so I'll probably just keep bashing my face against him untill I got him.

@bluemage1989 I would say, definitely give Hollow Knight a try if you are at all interested in "metroidvania" style games (for lack of a better term). For $15 you have very little to lose, and if you like it, which I'm quite sure you will, it's an absolute bargain for the ton of content on offer.

I have a love/hate relationship with this game. It really is amazing in so many ways and deserves the praise it's getting but...

there are some design choices that still bug me (no pun intended). why is the dlc hidden? I've been playing for 50+ hours, waiting to unlock it at some point, only to get to the end of the game, 100% completion, and nothing...

I had to look it up online, which I just don't like doing. If you wanted to find it on your own you'd have to just scour the entire game for hidden secrets. There are literally zero clues about how to find it; at least I never saw any. I hate cryptic nonsense like that.
