I’m new to the Nintendo world. I got rid of my Xbox and PS4 and got this bad boy. With kids and all it’s hard to sit down and play games, so the Switch is working out great.
My question is which headset or headsets are the best? I like to play fortnite, but most of my time is spent playing BOTW or Mario Tennis. Really just looking for a decent headset for when I play with some friends every now and then. On my Xbox/PS4 I went through 7/8 different Turtle Beach headsets and then settled on the Astro A40’s for the last few years. I just dont know what will or won’t work on the Switch.

I use my Astro A40's you can either go direct to the headphone jack on the switch of if you want the volume controls on the mix amp, you can use a 3.5mm aux cable and go from head phones to the Aux in on the Mix Amp

I know TurtleBeach headset work well here is the model they told me.
Here's my message to them:

Problem Description: To Sales,
I am a current owner of a Nintendo Switch and what I like to do is use the chat feature of Fornite on the Switch in Docked Mode and Portable that the Mic is still operational in either options. I see some listing but they are vague as to the Switch setup and not stating if you use Docked mode the headset would allow Mic operation? So if you could direct me in the right direction this would help my decision what to buy to use for Fortnite.

And here is their reply back:

The headsets you would be looking at would be the Stealth 450,520,400,700. All of them come with the mobile cable for portability except for the 700 which you would need to purchase a mobile cable.

Sincerely,
xxxx

Here's another part about how to use the Dock if you play on the HDTV docked.

My question:

So with it docked I need to plug in the USB transmitter into the Dock USB3 or USB2 ports? And this is all it needs for setup?

Their reply:

Correct plug the usb into the dock and just make sure the headset and transmitter are paired together.

Hopefully this helps sheds light on this setup and others to get more info. Also remember I bought the 450 model and it was from Walmart at 79.99+tax so it's not cheap but works. In the end any plain jane headset would work but if you need mic options get one that will work not everyone model supports as I found out when TurtleBeach responded back to me.

The Razer Kraken works just fine with my Nintendo Switch.

Does it work for FortNite chat on Switch. That's what should be noted or not noted. List the model helps too.

Also note I did plug the USB transceiver into the Dock on the inside and it works. That was surprising to me and I can hear my breathing in the mic that was oh yeah. So can say from experience it was something surprising but didn't get to do the mic yet as my Epic account is having issue linking to the Switch which stinks to high heaven.
