Have you played the Contra Rogue Corps demo and if so what did you think?
Have you played it on a platform other than the Switch, and if so did you enjoy it more?
Will you be getting it?
Like many of you here i am a lifelong fan of the Contra series. After seeing the E3 trailer we all knew it wasn't the best looking game but i thought it doesn't matter it could still be really fun. After playing it on the Switch it was clear to see i was very wrong. Out of curiosity i played it on the PS4 and it is much better and actually quite fun. I cannot bel;ieve that konami is going to release the switch version as it is.
Personally, I like the game. Graphics aren't the be-all end-all. I thought the game played well considering it is a budget title. It's certainly a step up from PS1-era Contra games.
Unfortunately, the publisher is Konami, and I refuse to be a day-one supporter of their products.
I look forward to grabbing a physical copy once it's on deep discount, $20 tops.
P.S. - According to Wikipedia this is being directed by Nobuya Nakazato, the same man behind Contra III and Hard Corps. So all of the complaints of this appearing to not be a genuine entry in the Contra series are all unfounded.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,241 games (as of March 23rd, 2024)

I played the demo, and quite frankly i thought it was garbage. Ugly graphics (which doesn't generally bother me) and boring un-fun gameplay (which does bother me), dated Rob Liefeld-esque character design and cringy voice-work.
@Magician I think the Switch version is a joke and shouldn't be released in the state that it is, the asset pop-in is bad and the textures on scenery in the distance is literally N64 quality. . The use of swear words is out of place and unecessary. Yes there is involvement from Nakazato but purely in a guidance/producer role, he isn't actually making the game in a design sense, although its hard to see what influence he has had here that anybody else who has played Conmtra couldn't of done. Paying it on the PS4 is a far better experience, the whole thing is so much smoother. I hope the Switch version gets patched and is opd far better than it is at this point.
@the_shpydar If you have anoher console try it on that, i found it far more enjoyable on the PS4. The switch version graphically is unforgiveable and shouldn't be released as is. I am interested to see how the game progressses beyond the demo and the weapon building/upgrade system.
I can't believe they thought making a modern contra in this wierd awkward 3D style was a good idea. I mean For F sake didn't we learn anything from the PS1 era Contra games? Some franchises that started 2-D just don't translate well to 3D. Castlevania, Sonic, Contra, Shinobi need i go on? I tried the demo and face it they screwed up yet again. How bout we just release Contra 5 already and stick with what works?

@Zeldafan79 I agree wholeheartedly with what you are saying but neo Contra on the PS2 is actually a great game and looks much better than this does from 2004. You've obviously played Blazing Chrome? that is an incredible game and you would think that Konami seeing the sales of it would realise the love that still exists for a 2D Contra.
@ YANDMAN
Yep played Blazing Chrome and loved it! That's what i wanted in a new contra. Not this mess of a game. I have not played Neo contra but I'm willing to give it a shot. I just want Contra to be contra again. No experimental BS or 3D nonsense that they've already proven doesn't work.
