Topic: Has Cities: Skylines had any performance patches since launch?

I really want this game and I've seen a physical edition is out in July so I'm tempted, but I remember people saying the frame rate could be as low as single figures when it was released. I'm not too bothered if it occasionally struggles to perform but if it's constant issues I don't think I would be able to stand it. Have there been any patches since release?

@jcvandan I've put dozens of hours into this game on Switch and I can promise you that, even right after launch, the frame-rate issues were grossly exaggerated. To this day I consider the NL review of this title to be the single least accurate thing they have ever posted. The game runs perfectly well even in portable. Does it look like it would on a high end gaming PC? Of course not. But there was never a point, even when I had a city of over 80,000 where the game struggled to run. When the game auto-saves, it stops for a couple seconds, and I can see that annoying some people, but it's not particularly often and I believe you can disable it entirely if it annoys you.

And to answer your initial question, yes it has been updated at least once or twice since release.

@Heavyarms55 thanks for the reply, that sounds very promising! I've just pre-ordered . Have they updated it with more content or just for stability?

@jcvandan If has two of the PC expansions out of the box. When I did a quick Google search it looks like there are no plans to bring more of the DLC to the Switch, but the most recent article I saw was months old and wasn't actually from the developer.

Honestly considering all the unjustified negative press it got when the port released, I don't expect it. Which is a shame. But it's still the absolute best city builder sim you can play on the go!

Yeah I like these sort of chilled out games on the Switch. I've been playing Civ 6 whilst listening to podcasts, and I have a little boy so with these sorts of games I can just put the Switch down for a minute if he's bothering me and I don't feel like I'm being interrupted like I do with action games. @torasbjoern The game is fine, slightly muddy textures on mid-zoom, but it runs fine and you get the vanilla experience + the 2 included expansions.

@DennisNOR If you can get it cheap it's totally worth it if you think you'll take advantage of the Switch's portability and/or don't have the PC version. But if you're not gonna do that and you have the PC version - not much point. The key benefit to the Switch version over the PC version is the portability. Which is great - I've put a solid 60 hours into it.

But I admit the modding community on PC has won me over to the PC version.

i have the game from the day launch, i regret it, while the performance are good, i found the game boring very quickly, i played for 15-20 days than i uninstalled

I mean, they could at least out the Disasters DLC out as an update. That's all I want lol.

They won’t,they tried out but for switch performance they couldn’t bring more expansions , they said that in a sad news time ago

Wow only thread I can find here. Shame about the expansions news. I bit the bullet and paid 35 pounds for the game. Still don’t regret it as it’s accessible for me given family life.

Does anyone know if the switch edition is missing features like traffic light controls etc and walking in first person view. @Heavyarms55
