Nintendo's 3rd party repair service have had my Joycon for over 2 weeks now and are apparently still waiting on parts. Which means they are actually waiting for parts or the Joycon are being replaced.
I was just wondering if anyone else had sent their Joycon out for repair and what your experience was like?
I rang Nintendo's UK customer service team last week and they said they couldn't provide any information at all. Another week has gone by and I am not happy at all.
I sent my Switch and both joycons in at the beginning of last week for repair.
I received an email on the Thursday saying they are awaiting parts too and that i should get my console back within 3 working days. I'm hoping that means mon/tues.
Hi and thanks for responding. Have you received your Switch and Joycon back from repair?
1 week later and I am still waiting for any kind of update other than "waiting for parts".
I am gonna give them till Wednesday the 31st to give me an update or I am asking them to return the Joycon without being repaired. I still have yet to play MK8D and I will be missing out on the ARMS Global Testpunch.
I had the same problem; sent it in, and it was held with no info but 'awaiting parts' for almost a month.
I only got it back when I rang up the Service Centre and complained, making several references to the 'Quick Turnaround' of 3-7 days advertised all over the website. There really is no excuse for 'awaiting parts' when I (or they) could just buy a pair from Amazon and have a functioning set a day later.
So yeah, ring them up, and have as much of a moan as is reasonable and without biting the poor phone person's ear off too much, as they've probably got nothing to do with it. But have a moan nonetheless. They're going against their word, and the availability of Joy Cons online and in stores leaves no legitimate excuses for indefinitely 'awaiting parts'.
You bought the console, Nintendo owes you some functioning controllers to go with. It shouldn't be easier for you to obtain the parts than them. Give them a ring and let them know that. It's the only thing that got things moving again for me, after a month of no left Joy Con.
I sent my Joy-Con (left) in for repair to Nintendo UK - it was returned, fully repaired, after 10 working days (≈ 2 weeks) ..sorry to hear that you're having such a lousy experience The only suggestion I have is, as @Maxz said above, to escalate your complaint - next time you call them, demand to speak to a manager...they might just have an alternative solution to the problem that the standard telephone operatives don't have the authority to authorise? Worth a shot at least..
I'm somewhat glad I'm not the only person who's had to wait a ridiculous amount of time for this 'repair'.
Trust me I've had a moan and groan over the phone quoting this quick turnaround and got nowhere. Next Wednesday will be exactly 4 weeks since they've had um.
This is the first time I've had to deal with Nintendo's customer service and frankly I've had a terrible experience.
I'm going to get mine replaced too but will wait a bit.
Mine is not superb but usually doable. I'm getting more annoyed by it though so well send them my joy con at some point.
I don't think the waiting for parts message is a sloppy excuse. Everything switch related is sold out everywhere. I can imagine the logistics are tricky for a while.
Too bad to see your joy con gone for so long. Hope you'll be gaming happily soon:)
@erv I'm not so sure about the scarcity of Joycon. I work at a supermarket and we've had controllers in stock since Day 1.
I really hope I can get back to gaming soon. In hindsight if I knew it would take this long I think I would've replaced it where I bought it from. Even if that meant losing a BotW save of 95hours.
That strap thing would NOT Detach itself from the joycon without the help of a knife and pliers. Got it off in the end but it would not click firmly into place in the Dock. So bought a New one. Problem solved.
@G0dlike I knew I'd miss out on MK8D launch when I sent mine off but now I'm missing out on playing the test punch. Which is disappointing as I'm on the fence about ARMs and this weekend would've helped my decision.
Yeah, that's why I held off! Also I have a pro controller so not an issue for playing Zelda and MK8. I'm in the same boat as you, not quite decided on ARMS. Played it for 3 mins at an event but wasn't a good enough play to decide whether it's day 1 or not. I personally find it embarrassing that Nintendo UK don't have the parts to fix the Joy Cons, it's a widespread problem, not a one off issue @DBailey
@G0dlike I was thinking about a Pro controller for the situation I am in but I bought MK8D to play with my partner, and I don't fancy buying another pair of Joycon just because my original pair are away.
I held off while I got Zelda finished but now the wait is beyond the joke.
Persona 5 is absolutely bat poop cray. Have got the demo and enjoyed it immensely but don't think I have te time (or sanity ) to play through the actual game anytime soon. I think that other than 1st party releases, and Yooka Laylee , which I backed on Kickstarter, I've more than enough to keep me busy, working Joy Cons or not 😂 @DBailey watch the profanity please...-Joey
I played arms and liked it for being original and seemingly deep.
The left joy-con dos give out a few times. The shortage everywhere though, even for joy-con in my country, makes me think twice before calling for repairs.
I'll buy the yellow set. After that, I'll be sending in that left joy-con. I assume the left joy-con thingy will be history for the new yellow ones.
@erv I believe the issue had been resolved a few weeks after launch/it only affected a few of the launch Joycon.
No email, no notification, nothing. It is a bank holiday today so I guess if there were any updates I wouldn't know until tomorrow. I have kind of given up hope that I'll get them back within the next few weeks unless I ask them to return them not repaired. Then I'm back at square one after four weeks which isn't great.
I mean I don't want to sour anyone's attempt at contacting Nintendo for a repair. I just sincerely hope I am one of a very few who have/had to wait way too long.
