Topic: Has anyone been updated on COD (BO4 or MW2)?

I havent seen an update or mention lately, and I just got an email saying on the 17th the official press release would have more info...but i thought I’d ask

Did anyone get any new info or has anyone seen any updates in terms of which game will be on switch?

MW2 remastered?
Black Ops 4?

Honestly, I’m more than happy with Splatoon , and its better than COD. I just sometimes like a mindless FPS frenzy for a pseudo adrenaline rush without getting behind the wheel of my 300hp BMW lol

Better off letting loose in a virtual world

CoD on Switch would be awesome, I don't care what anybody says to the contrary lol

My life has changed so much this past year, and my Switch has emerged as pretty much my only gaming console due to its portable, quick-play nature. I'd love to dig into another CoD campaign or play little bouts of multiplayer.

Plus, with the Switch's so-far healthy install base, maybe we could actually get a reliable community going that would last all year. The Wii U just had such a small base, and after a few months finding an online match took a long time/just couldn't happen at certain times of day.

@chrislisting I don't think it is remotely fair to directly compare COD to Splatoon. Yeah they are both shooters but they are such different games...

Now directly comparing something like COD and Battlefield, that I could see.

Me too man....I had psx,ps2,ps3,and ps4 all at launch (save ps3) and the switch quickly, easily, and I dare say naturally/organically became my only and go to for the same reasons you listed @rallydefault

I really beleive it’s the ultimate expression of current/next gen for its inherent ability and the potential it holds, and I’m so thoroughly impressed with the console that I gave my ps4 to my wife (officially) and I keep the switch by my side nearly always now, along with my iPad Pro (which the switch led me to buy in order to have the same portability instead of my laptop now,,, that’s the far reaching effect its had)

I dont want to sound like what people call a Nintendo fan boy, especially when i was such a staunch proponent of Sony until 2016, and I mean i was ENOS LIVES type of sony fan you know?

But my OP was really about my interest in a MW2 remake for the switch. IMHO MW2 is the best COD all around, gameplay, maps, guns, modes, and just the feel of it....and id love to relive it and actually have a new experience on a new console that i now really enjoy and love, which i havent felt about video games since the apex of PS3 (ca. 2012), so over 5 years since I’ve been into games

So to just conclude and add to the post about comparison, no comparison here whatsoever....Splatoon is a much more enjoyable experience than COD...and COD is extremely different in terms of shooter, which is why i want a little diversity and a little hardcore touch

The only issue I can see with this coming to Switch is that if they are indeed getting rid of the single player campaign and ditching it for a Battle Royal mode, then the out and about element for the switch is eliminated. You would have to be connected to Wifi or have lots of Mobile Data to run the online from.

@SuperJoon As long as they were upfront and open about the nature of the game required a connection I don't see that being an issue. Either you can play or you can't, simple as that.

@chrislisting I think I like COD 4 a little more than MW2 - mainly due to Nostalgia and it being the first COD I got to play online regularly. But I would quite like seeing MW2 on Switch.

@Heavyarms55 I havent had the opportunity to play anything before modern warfare (1) online. I actually was introduced to online gaming through modern warfare 2, but I didn’t like it much as I didn’t understand what was happening. I mean i was COMPLETELY naive to what was happening when i started online matches and saw the matchmaking because i had NO idea consoles had caught up to PCs...I Thought it was online, but I couldn’t beleive how easy it was to get on and to connect without all the parameter tweaking needed

I then left online gaming and FPS, as I wasn’t into the MP to really appreciate games like battlefield. After time passed, my friend showed me an online match and i said, “were playing in real time on a console like this ? Just pick up and play?” And he looked incredulously like”duh...yeah” and i reminded him i was on a 10 year gaming hiatus (i stopped playing ps2 in high school, and i got ps3 when they debuted the slim 250gb system so thats about 4 years or so into the ps3 life) so i was outta the loop

So then i started serious online gaming, and finally came to revisit MW2 after black ops, and mw3 and then during black ops 2 someone suggested we switch it up and play an old COD and I couldn’t beleive the amazing fluidity in gameplay and also the beauty in graphics.....also, unfortunately hackers thoroughly destroyed the servers but every now and then wed find a fun match

I know it was a lengthy reply, but i just say that to kinda summarize how i came to my OP

I really am a battlefield fan, which is why my original reply to you was I wouldn’t even compare COD to battlefield, as i felt that wasn’t fair lol like battlefield is EPIC. I love MW2 and COD but they are not on the same playing field or the programming level DICE is at....

If battlefield came to switch, i would wait on COD, or even pass altogether! You? Battlefield fan?

@chrislisting Ah, COD 4 is Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. It wasn't the first online game I played at length, but it was the first "real world" FPS I did. Before that I played a lot of Halo 2 and 3. (Only played Halo 1 single player) The reason I suggested comparing COD and Battlefield was not because they are the quality of game, but the same kind of game. Both are FPS titles with "real world" themes. I don't have as much experience with Battlefield, though I like that it often supports vehicles and bigger maps. Neither COD nor Battlefield are really high on my list of "I hope comes to Switch" but both are titles I'd be interested in playing at least a bit of, if they did. Actually, though is it basically certain to never happen, I'd love to play Halo 1-3 and Reach on the Switch. lol didn't like anything post-Reach but I'd love replaying those games. Not worth buying an Xbone for just those though.

Battlefield is in a sense, just as you concisely put, bigger maps and vehicles, but that is really just the surface. Beyond that, there’s so much more to it, but just to give you one idea, the maps are completely destructible and it has a bearing on the map, the game outcome and the environment for the entire 24+ minute round.....really the only must have FPS IMHO if you own a ps3/ps4 . I’m sure the switch can handle the Graphical task of battlefield, but without the online battlefield community, the game would be limited because it isn’t a game for the casual FPS fan

But i understand your comparison, they are both first person shooters that are probably the two biggest competitors for the crown, as well as being the most representative of the genre

Now, i love modern warfare as well @Heavyarms55....I played that more recently, and the least of all , but I absolutely loved it. I’d gladly take that as well, in fact, rather than the brand new black ops 4 on its way out, I’d rather a remastered mw1+2 combo for the switch more than anything. Two of the best in the COD franchise after playing the last 6 or 7 titles so yeah I’d be in for that too.

I have to be honest, if we don't get BO4, I would be happy with a remake, just something to scratch the itch haha! BO1 remake would make my day!

If anything we’ll have to wait for E3 now. I don’t have high hopes for Switch getting it now. I hope I’m wrong though.

Anything’s possible still. But I’d be plenty happy with a remastered release of an old game on Switch. Pick up Black Ops 4 on Xbox.
