I think Nintendo will continue on that market as always, Sony being there or not will not matter much... It didn't matter much when the Gameboy family existed, at least. Their main threat is the mobile market - will they be able to keep the market afloat when many people are moving towards mobile, with smartphones and tablets eating away at the market share? I sure hope they do.

I have a chronic lack of time, for everything.

Now playing: Okami HD, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

In some ways GC and Wii are better but in some ways 3DS is a beast. Very different architecture. Luigi's Mansion 2 and Resident rvil Revelations make the 3DS look way better like next gen amazing so it depends.

Well it has a hell of a lot more RAM and the cartridges can be quite a bit bigger than 1.5GB. Also being a more modern piece of tech means that certain kinds of effects are done far more efficiently. The fact that the 3DS has a sub-480p screen also helps a bit. So when you do games in closed corridors? The 3DS can do a lot of things better than Gamecube.

But I think you'd struggle to get games like Wind Waker, Pikmin, Super Mario Sunshine working well. Certainly not better than the originals. They did manage to get Xenoblade going but from what I've read it was quite a task. Which is also part of the reason reason why that game is only on the New 3DS. f you were to make a fair judgement of where the 3DS and New 3DS sit... you'd say that sometimes they're behind the Gamecube. Sometimes they're between the Wii and Gamecube.

I've always thought the 3ds to be behind wii but new 3ds to be on par with it. I think I was wrong in that assumption, as xenoblade shows it's probably not going to be as good as wii in terms of capability.

I wouldn’t rule sony out just yet though. Before nx is here, they could release a handheld that plays the exact same games as the ps4 has now, albeit with things like lower resolution et all. No matter how nx is positioned at that point, that will hurt, yet will come at few extra cost to sony. And gone are the game drought libraries of the vita...

I’m not saying it’s a free strategy, or what they want to achieve, but it’ll be something they consider.
