This is pretty huge news really. I remember a lot of people grumbling (quite understandably) about how the GC controller was limited to Smash Bros on the Wii U. And then suddenly Nintendo - without a word - sneaks in an update that makes the GC controller playable with every compatable game on the Switch.
I've just played a few rounds of Mario Kart 8D with the GC controller and it was pretty great. I mean, I prefer the Pro in general, but it's nice suddenly having twice as many controllers at my disposal, and when Smash Bros inevitably drops, it'll be a godsend.
@Aurumonado They simply don't exist. You can play games with the GC controller as long as the game doesn't require those buttons. For example, in Splatoon, you can run and shoot but you can't turn into a squid. I'm glad Fast RMX lets you change controls in-game since the default configuration doesn't work with GC controller.
It's its, not it's.

Works as advertised. It works pretty well with Mario Kart 7. Doesn't have enough buttons for Breath of the Wild though. The GCN's awful D-Pad keeps if from being a good choice for any 2D game like Sonic Mania or Blaster Master however.
I suspect I might use it a lot with Mario Odyssey however. I checked the buttons at the Gamestop kiosk, and the only missing button is R3 for first person mode.
