Both Doom and Stardew Valley have pretty nasty audio bugs that both developers know about. Chucklefish, Stardew Valleys dev already announced an upcoming patch with relative radio silence from Bethesda / Panic Button regarding Doom.

Are these patches throttled by Nintendo ? I am aware that they have to be sent in to Nintendo for a review, but that's an awful lot of time for something so easily reproducible to be fixed. Does anyone know any details about the process ?

@Einherjar I don't think we really know - the process takes time on PS4/X1 as well (I know that developers of multi-platform games often have to stagger patch submissions to ensure that they all get rolled out simultaneously) ..but quite what the process entails, from Nintendo's end, is anyone's guess really (as far as I'm aware) ..it's possible, I suppose, that patches have to also get age rating approval from various regional certification authorities (eg. to ensure that a 'E for Everyone' game is still rated 'E' after the patch) - which may add an extra layer of complication - it is surprising that the process seems to take so long but, either way, I still appreciate the open communication of Chucklefish, reassuring fans that the patch is inbound (far better than just leaving players in the dark!) ..whether the process would've been any quicker on other consoles though, I don't really know

There is very little info on Nintendo's behind the scenes processes for this. My guess is that they wait to dump groups of updates together. It's also possible some sort of testing by Nintendo simply takes time. They have had problems with 3rd party software in the past being used to create exploits, so they may be trying to avoid that.

There's no more "all games come out on Thursday", and in the same sense there is no "all updates come out on a certain day".
I've watched updates for all Switch games, and they can come out any day of the week.
There's absolutely no cycle. One update comes out on Monday, two updates come out on Tuesday, another comes on Wednesday etc.
They just release the updates when they're ready and approved.

@SKTTR Ahhh, I was just about to say that I noticed that Overcooked and Stardew Valley's patches both went live today - must've just been a coincidence! ..apparently ARMS's update comes tomorrow, so it'd seem like you're right - they just drop when they drop

@Einherjar I'm sure Stardew is on its way to improving it. For Doom, Bethesda is most likely debating if the game will still carry the feel of the company branding if they remove the last remaining glaring bugs.
