Topic: Forgotten Announced Games...

So now being that it's 2018 we're all anticipating what is in store for the Switch as it wraps up its first fiscal year, as well as steps into its second. There are a couple games that I remember looking promising, but I haven't heard anything on them since before the Switch was actually available.

Sacred Heroe and Seasons of Heaven. What happened to these two titles, I mean I get that they have always been scheduled to release 2018, but it's been silent on these intriguing indie titles. Anyone hear anything on these lately? What about other forgotten announced titles?

Seasons of Heaven is straight vaporware though, just assume that game will never be released at any point.

Arena of Valor was scheduled for a release in winter 2017, but I haven't seen it on the Eshop yet, despite it being on the apple App Store.

Yep, hopefully since it's going into beta it won't be too far off. I guess we'll have to wait and see how polished it is so far.

Don't forget Pocket Rumble, Steep, and Redout! There is a lot of games like that, Shaq Fu Remastered is another one that comes to mind. It really makes no sense to me because they just refuse to cancel, but also refuse to release any information. Its like what was happening with WWE2K18 and we all know how that turned out.

I do hope it's at least okay because I'll be getting it for free for buying NBA when it came out. Also I don't think it's a remaster more of like a reboot or something. It looks nothing like the original.

Dang! There are more than I realized. I forgot about a lot of those. @Nintendoforlife "Vaporware" is a new term to me. What's that?

@Gorbash333 Vaporware is essentially a game that is revealed and then completely falls of the map. You never hear of them again, except for some rare situations where they might pop up again years later.

@DiscoGentleman The real crazy thing is that there is video of it running on Switch at events. Even NintendoLife has video where Alex played the game.

So that makes me wonder, was it actually running on switch at those events? Or were they pulling a fast one and making it look like the Switch is running it, when in reality a pc is? That's the only possibility I can think of honestly.

EDIT: Just looked it up, it is released on Steam. It's still in early access and some reviews say the game hasn't been updated for a while. Chucklefish must've just honestly gave up on it and threw it into the development bin. I really hate that, but what can you do.

Considering Pocket Rumble had a release date of March 2017 and still isn't out and hasn't really been updated on PC (since 4/29, and it was just patches), I'm guessing we won't see it. We really haven't even heard anything of it since around that time, like sorry it's delayed until next year or whatever. This is the last we have even heard of the game:

We demo’d the game with Cardboard Robot at EGX Rezzed earlier this year and it went over really well, and was even playing quite well on the Switch! We all felt confident at the time that the game would be ready for submissions soon, but then ran into some issues that have taken a while to sort out. The number one priority for both Chucklefish and Cardboard Robot is ensuring that Pocket Rumble has a great release and that all gameplay modes perform well on Switch — performance issues are of particular importance, since it’s a fighting game! We’re still working with the team to address some of these problems so, again, I don’t want to give you a release date until we’re absolutely sure, but I think we’ll have good news for you soon."

Unless by "soon" they mean 5 months, it's as good as gone.

Dandara, Yoku's Island Express (pinball game), the Towerfall port... at any given point every system is 90% forgotten games.

I personally wasn't looking forward to Pocket Rumble, but I feel really bad for anyone who was, especially since it might not even be released. (At least not anytime soon)

@Haru17 I agree with you about Dandara (seriously this game looked really cool )and Towerfall, but Yoku Island isn't forgotten yet. If I remember correctly it was originally named to be 2018 (one of the first switch games to have been) and the Twitter is pretty active https://twitter.com/YokuGame

It is taking a long time I agree, but Team17 wouldn't let it just turn to vaporware.

Wargroove is still floating around in the ether right now, when it was going to launch last year originally.

@ieatdragonz @Haru17 Dandara releases on the 6th February and has been on the Eshop coming soon section for the last couple of weeks. It's available for pre-order with a 20% discount. Was Towerfall ever announced for Switch? That may or may not be cancelled but the developers are the ones behind Celeste which releases on Thursday.

@Haru17 I think Matt Thorson said on Twitter that Towerfall would come after Celeste is done and Celeste is coming tomorrow.

They announced one of it will be mmorpg too ;_;
