@Meowpheel did you play both of them? I put 500 hrs into the wiiu version and about 30 into the n3ds version. It most certainly didn't run better on the new 3ds.

I own both. The frame rate is more consistent on the new 3ds. Although it's not something many will notice.

When in multiplayer, the wiiu game runs almost like the game on the original 3ds, too.

From what I hear, besides the obvious graphical difference, something that hurts the wiiu game is that it tries to make the battlefield look more alive by displaying distant enemies, which is something the 3DS version doesn't bother to do.

The result is a game that looks emptier, but runs smoother. Even though on the new 3ds, you're basically interacting with the same amount of effective enemies on screen as in the wiiu.

@Meowpheel yes there is slow down in wiiu multiplayer but the legends version doesn't even have that option. The 3ds version has way less particle effects and the pop in is very annoying. The camera also sucks in comparison to the smooth camera of the wiiu version. The hordes are also not really hordes in the 3ds version. I can never get my kill count quite as high because of it. It simply cant make as many calculations.

Never had a problem filling the KO quota. even without fairy nukes. Though they help with that, specially if you train them with elemental magic.

The camera control sucks, but that is more a fault of the system and its terrible c nub. I just center the camera behind the character with the L button to get around that.

As for graphical flair and particles, I can't say I care about that. I'd prefer being able to change characters and use fairies either way.

Another big thing the 3ds game has over the wiiu one is that it is much better balanced in terms of difficulty. Although I expect this one to be the same on both systems, let's hope they balance it correctly the first time around.

He still makes a fair point, the y clearly made a lot of comprimises in order to make it work, and that was going from Wii U to New 3DS. I have a strong feeling the New 3DS version will be pretty gimped overall. I just can't see it working that well...

To be completely fair, it's not like they went and actually ported the wiiu game. They just scaled down the assets and rebuilt it using the warriors engine they already had for the 3ds.

It's likely they'll do the same here. I wouldn't be too worried about it.

@Meowpheel I never had a problem with the quota. I just can't get my kill rate as high. I do like switching characters on the fly but prefer the challenge of the wiiu edition.

I almost feel like 3DS ports of Wii U games have been a middle finger for people not buying the Wii U.

Think about it, Hyrule Warriors compromised killing tons of enemies at once, Mario Maker compromised its online features, Yoshi's Wooly World compromises its visuals. ALL THREE SELLING POINTS, TAKEN AWAY, ENJOY YOUR GAME, NON-WII U OWNER!

I see it as them trying to rescue some of the good games the wiiu had.

By recollecting some of what was left of the wiiu, they made sure those games reached an audience. And made a quick buck along the way.

And honestly, you can't realistically expect them to make ports of games from an HD home console to a tiny, seven year old, portable console (with graphic capabilities that were already outdated when it came out) without compromising the graphics.

And yet, those games look as good as they possibly could on the 3ds. (and yes, they work way better than people want to give them credit for).

As for Mario Maker losing the online component, yeah I have no idea.

Also, there's another forgotten wiiu port the 3ds got: Desert Island Escape.

It should be more notable though! They literally took the one decent part of Amiibo Festival, the one and only thing worth playing in that game, and added it to every copy of New Leaf, a game most 3ds owners probably already had. For free.

It's not coming to the 3DS tho, it's coming to the new 3DS which has less users than the Wii U.

Then again, he wasn't really talking about this game.

This isn't a Wii U port. Or a port at all.

This is kind of intriguing because we may see this more often between new3ds + switch which is fine by me honestly. Would be great to see NEW 3ds exclusivele games coming out that use the extra hardware for better grafix!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe the games wont be held back as much as they're now!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the New 3DS version may be gimped in some way, to incentive people to buy the "definitive version" in the Switch. They can't simply not release it on the New 3DS since that would be giving the middle finger to all those that upgraded, but it doesn't mean they'll make it easy for them if they want to push the Switch.

I have a chronic lack of time, for everything.

Now playing: Xenoblade Chronicles 2

Intentionally making a game worse for no good reason is a bad business choice.

They should and hopefully will make the 3ds game as equal as possible on the system.

It will already be "inferior" without them sabotaging themselves. The switch will have better graphics and enemy count, social media sharing, and probably multiplayer, is that not enough?

Hey, we still there? No? Didn't see anything talking about necroposting, so here we go:

Would people be against TMS characters appearing in the game? The amount of flash and overall uniqueness they have in their base game would, IMO, make them fun inclusions.

Not really against... but not really for, either. I'm expecting some stronger bias towards Shadow Dragon/ Awakening/ Fates, so if I had to pick between TMS and Jugdral/ Elibe/ Tellius/ etc.... the latter gets my vote.

"Sometimes, I just don't understand human behavior" - C-3P0

Maybe they'll give us all the characters ever

I mean, they could realistically make movesets mostly tied to the weapon classes, and have a character system growth similar to that of the main games and heroes. With skills and new better weapons giving new abilities and keeping characters within the same weapon classes different enough from each other.

That way they can make as many characters as they want without having to create 1000 unique movesets.
