It's a clever idea, and I would definitely be happy with it.
But I don't think that's what it's going to be. I think Nintendo is going to make an explicit effort to differentiate itself from smartphones, and they are going to make use of the Sharp freeform displays.

Holy molly that thing would kill your hands. Look at it! You gotta do Yoga with your left hand to reach the face buttons, and the edges of the device are even sharper than the original 3DS'!
Some sort of 3D animation software, half decent editing skills, some stock sounds, a monitor and a phone camera. You could put this together in an afternoon. If you spent a bit of time on it and had a bit of skill you could get it looking a lot better than this. And you better believe a company like Nintendo is going to make a nicer render.
Decent work though. The editing in particular was pretty solid so the student who made it should get a good mark for it. If I was doing it I would have rounded the corners and gone with a matte finish. Rounded edges are more believable and making it a glossy finish is a lot harder to get right
This is along the lines of what I'd like to see Nintendo actually do. I do think the design looks kind of awkward though, but with the concept of a foldable screen that can function as a Gamepad, I suppose it couldn't be helped. Also, the back catalogue of games they showed sounds like a fanboy's wishlist. It seems a bit sketchy for them to have Pokemon Stadium and Mario Sunshine at launch.
I would prefer a more comfortable shape and actual sticks if this was to take the place of a home console. But the idea is really awesome. I wish it was real.
