@echoplex good to know it does open up more. I always figured if nothing else when I finished the game I'd get some sort of sandbox mode like the last game. Main reason I didn't do too much sandbox in the last game was I was annoyed at how you couldn't do anything with water.

@toiletduck I really do hate how wordy jrpgs have been getting. It's why I've given up on a lot of modern jrpgs. I remember having Fantasy Life almost ruined for me by the sheer volume of text. I swear one time I was clicking as fast as I could not bothering to read and it still took like 15 minutes to get through a segment. This game isn't as bad but I really wish all of the jrpg devs would condense the text some. Most of the greatest jrpgs of all time come from the nes and snes days when they had severe memory limitations. Maybe they don't need to be that extreme but yeah lets condense some things guys.

Nearing the end of the 3rd island. The plot twist was predictable but still satisfying since I never liked that character anyway. This was a very enjoyable arc, made up for my annoyance with the 2nd island. I personally love verbosity in my RPGs but the Malroth segments would do with the ability to click through since they are short enough to have read them as soon as the pop up and you have to wait for them to go away again.

Edit: that moment when your typo is preserved because somebody quoted you. Sigh.

As I said before this is extremely annoying. I don’t understand why you cannot click through them. I swear I had to go about and do other things during each of these sequences because it was driving me crazy.

Also something I could do without after the 150th time is the unskippable animation when you unlock new recipes with heart points (you know the ones with the lock) at the workbench. Makes the process extremely tedious and frankly I’m not sure I’ll bother unlocking them all because of that.

Has anyone finished the main story ? I was wondering if you could come back to the isle of awakening (or even any isle at all) afterwards. To make it short, can I hope to have a full sandbox kind of game in the endgame ? Thanks.

Yup. You are allowed to build whatever after the main story. Matter of fact, you gain access to materials on a few more islands.

@Anti-Matter that's some cool stuff. I think when I get everything unlocked I'm going to spend a lot of time building up the island.

Do I need to have a final chapter save of the first game to claim the transfer bonuses before I start a file in 2? I'm tempted to get it for proper multiplayer but I'm still at chapter 2, and I'd rather not rush things if I can just start playing the second game now and claim the Dragonlord Throne whenever I get around to finishing the first game.

Magician

30 hours in and I've only just finished the second island.

The game has quite a bit more content than I was expecting.

I love the endgame.
You still have hundreds of things to unlock, and the number of challenges to complete (the tablet challenges) is enough to keep you going. I also love how you still can improve your weapons and tools, and how you can manage the PNJs. It's so much more than a sandbox game. It doesn't get as technical as Minecraft but allows you to create life-like communities in game when PNJs in Minecraft just go about being stuck in wells.

Is there any way to share islands on these forums? I know you can visit islands through the noticeboard, and you can use the beach teleporter to join someone's game (never got that one to work - no-one's been playing when I tried), but I'd be interested to see some builds.

I don't want to share anything yet, but I'm close to beating the game, and getting stuck in to making the island my own. I'd finished the third island the other day, and am currently developing the third area of the island.

@Ryu_Niiyama Thanks for the list ! I think I came across this particular one yesterday when I was trying to complete the food target.

@edhe I don't know how you can do that, I know the users have an in-game ID (in addition to their Switch username) that you can see when viewing snapshots but I don't know what use could be made of it. I only recently started visiting other people's islands through the noticeboard to get some ideas (=steal some room recipes)

Ryu_Niiyama

@echoplex Np. I'm too lazy to do a room list, perhaps someone can start it we keep adding to it? I'll keep pecking away at the food list.

The slowdown on some islands I’ve tried visiting is unbearable - I hope I don’t experience that level of slowdown when I’m building mine. I’d initially theorised that when you visited an island, it ‘streamed’ it as if you were entering a server, but I’m not so sure. It does say ‘downloaded’ when you’re ready to set sail...

@echoplex
It seems if you press + to open the menu you can enter someone’s uploader ID, and through there, you can browse their screenshots and visit their island if possible. So we should share our IDs - mine is nvW9KFToso.
So far I’ve uploaded one shot - I could upload a few more, but they’re nothing special.
