@SLIGEACH_EIRE I think Doom was one of those games everyone thought couldn't be done or would never even be tried. While I've heard of a Fallout 4, I've never heard of a Doom rumor.

Can I post my fake DOOM for Switch boxart again that I made last week without getting crucified? It brought us luck after all!

Since this wish became reality let me post my other fake Switch box again as well. Maybe it will bring us luck in the next Nintendo Direct.

Ctrl+Alt+Del's author Tim Buckley has been dancing around the issue for a while, but he can't do that for long: now that the wind is blowing strong in Nintendo's favor, I think it's time for Buckley's Console Wars story arc to continue.

If you know CAD by infamy, check out its Console Wars story arc. It's pretty much the highlight of the comic, and with DOOM coming out on Switch, this is about the perfect time to do it.

Negative. I was married at age 20 and divorced at age 27. Now I'm happy having all my free time. Don't think I'd ever want to give that up now (And actually, you're probably not too far off, my BestBuy account showed about 5k spent last year, and I only ever buy gaming related stuff from them)

also multiplayer will have to be downloaded separately, because how huge the size of the game is.

If that's what it takes then I'm ok with that. I'm more interested in the single player anyways and may never even bother with the multiplayer dl.

I also wish they'd put DOOM on a bigger cartridge. However, it's only the multiplayer mode that is a separate download. For me that is a passable situation, because I didn't even know this game had multiplayer.

I really enjoy level editors though, so that's a bit of a bummer. But again, I didn't know it had one. The game is already amazing without it.

I love this DOOM for its excellent single player gameplay, fast-paced action, and great design. And the Switch version has all DLC included, plus the usual Switch features (motion controls, portable mode) that no other version has.

On another note, DOOM (and Wolfenstein) coming to SWITCH is just amazing on so many levels.

• Both are classics, evergreens, the fathers of modern FPS: These franchises sell, and help selling consoles.
• Both have a history on Nintendo: Wolfenstein 3D was released for the SNES. Doom made it to the SNES and GBA. Doom II made it to the GBA. The Nintendo 64 even got the exclusive and superb Doom 64.
• Both are undeniably Triple AAA games, 3rd Party Triple AAA games. This is no questionable DOOM 3 quality we're talking here, we talk about masterpieces.
• Both are considered to be some of the graphically best / most demanding games ever, and Bethesda proves Switch can handle them. With this as a benchmark Switch proves it can handle almost any PS4/Xbox One multiplatform title.

Now you can say Nintendo is doomed!

Not my kind of game. Running around mindlessly and shooting stuff isn't my idea of a good time. Definitely glad it's coming, though. Bethesda isn't pulling any punches in their Switch support so far.

if priced as a full game at $60; no buy for me. Should be $39.99 price or $49.99 max.

Sighhhh... it's not a switch tax. The game cost $60. It should not cost $39.99 or $49.99. Simply not having a level editor doesn't make the game worth $20 less.

And for goodness sake stop acting like you canceled your pre-order you've been bitching about this game since the thread started saying how you're not buying it. So don't buy it. Find another thread and talk about another game and let the people who are actually excited about this be excited for it without you repeatedly trying to drown out everyone's hype. It's like the more people ignore you, the more times you post trying to cock block people's (legitimate) excitement.

Anyways, almost bought this game for Xbox One a while back- saw it on sale for half price... so glad I didn't buy it now. This is the only version I want or even care about. I would sell my Skyrim for Xbox now too, but it does have mod support so I'll hang onto it just in case.

Ya, they took the best approach. This game clocks upwards of 60 to 80 gigs on other consoles after all updates and DLC. And we all know switch cartridges top off at half that amount, 1/3 that amount even. So the fact you get the entire single player game all on a cart is plenty good enough for me. Multiplayer mode will eventually be obsolete one day anyways so not having it on the cart doesn't really matter. Because if you fired this game up in 10 years and the multiplayer mode isn't playable (which it won't be), it defeats the purpose of being on the cartridge in the first place. So who cares...

And what's really nice about it is people who don't care about the multiplayer can optionally choose to not download the mp content update. That's killer actually. Because that'll save tons of space for people who simply opt to pass on the content they don't want.

defending the Switch Tax... the game is almost 2 years old.... Missing a level editor... download mandatory for half the game... and the game is like $20 bucks on all other systems.... you defending the Switch Tax is getting ridiculous. but play on the go right? OK

Nintendo Everything has comparison video for the switch and ps4 versions. Color me impressed and ready to preorder.

I'm pretty sure around as many 3rd party AAA games are coming out on Switch this November as came out in 2013 on the Wii U.

Honestly like that the multiplayer mode isn't on the cartridge - it's the singleplayer that everyone raved about, and is the reason to buy the game.
