I have actually been using it alot lately as a handheld more then docked. Mainly because the Switch has become the system I use when the main tv or PS4 are in use. That way I can work on my Switch backlog without having to worry about my PS4 backlog. Then when the main tv is free I can work on my PS4 backlog.

I play it in both modes and I love it. I am amazed how I don't care about its power as a home console and I am amazed of its power in handheld mode.
There is just something special to play Skyrim or Breath of the Wild with ease when I am not connected to anything.
This console should be the greatest for me if they manage to port some of my favourite open world games. But as I am seeing it I thing they will do it!
Handheld. I almost always use it when I commute, and having a baby daughter I have only so many time for video games at home, so I spend it with other consoles that are not portable. Once in a while I play Switch at home too, but sitting on the toilet, so handheld again. On rare occasions I use it as a home console too.
First week or 2 I used handheld all time just at home
Then I started using docked and that was perfect too
So now I use Docked when I know I’ve got a spare couple of hours and can chill out on the TV, but I do take it to work with me on nights and when it’s chilled have a few games of something
Handheld goes beyond just taking it outside. I can play on my Switch anywhere in my house, be it when cooking simple foods (forget complex recipes though), laying in bed, or just using the restroom.
On the other hand, I LOVE playing docked with my PC monitor. The way I have my gaming setup, I have both my Wii U and Switch hooked up to the monitor, plug in headphones into either the GamePad or the Switch itself while docked, then just relax. I much prefer playing on a monitor than a TV for anything aside from couch multiplayer, where I can just easily move my dock to the TV for that.

Both, but docked most of the time. There are a lot of great 2D platformers on the Switch, but I won’t be comfortable playing them in handheld mode until they release a joy-con with a d-pad.

For some reason I often dock the system to do bosses. The rest of the time it's handheld for me. The Switch has also completely changed my approach to gaming. Previously I'd have to plan some gaming time around work, family etc, and often reach the appointed hour too tired to bother. Now, my gaming is in short bursts throughout the day. And plenty of 'em. Gotta love that sleep function.
@Scal_Capone Interesting. I think it is the most comfortable handheld I have played. I'm shocked at how much more comfortable it is to play Mario Kart on compared to the 3DS.
After more than a year of use (so the novelty as worn off) I find I still use it in both portable and dock mode. I still enjoy taking it with me on the train or to the cafe. Sometimes I do even play in table top mode too.
