Back around 2015 time my gaming kinda exploded. I started collecting Wii games just because I liked the system and the Wii Remote and thought the uniqueness would be cool to indulge in and preserve.

This started getting me grief from my other half, whinging about how many games I was buying (even though nearly all of them were bought used at no more than £5 each most of the time.

This grief she gave me pushed me into making secret purchases, and the secretness kinda made it all the more enjoyable.

So in secret I then bought a N3DS, then an Xbox One S (since secretly upgraded to XB1X), then a 1060 6gb graphics card, then a launch day Switch and a PS4 (can't remember the order at this stage, and the retailer sent me a PS4 Pro instead of a standard, which I forgot to inform them of).

So now I've got all these secret devices I can only really use when I won't get found out. Kinda ridiculous, and impacts the amount of time I can spend on them, especially the Xbox and PS4 cos they're not easily concealed, but all the more fun because of it in some ways.

tl;dr: I play my Wii U (with all the older gen classics loaded on too) openly, and my PC is not a secret either but I hardly play it as it lives in the garage (too big and noisy foe the house) and Steam Link kinda works but is frustratingly just below a seamless experience. Then I play my Switch & 3DS in secret, and occasionally my PS4 and Xbox.

I've mega indulged this gen, but I'll be living off it for years to come and currently expect my next console upgrade to not be until the Switch 2 launches.

I could happily live off just my Switch and the only thing to likely threaten that would be if a rival hybrid device launches, or a handheld that offers full Steam integration.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?

The Switch is the only modern console I own, but I have an HP Omen gaming laptop that has been serving me well (plus the Steam Link for playing games on the TV). I have a New 3DS XL, Wii U, PS3 (which, believe it or not, I got for free from my cousin last year), SNES Classic, PS2, N64, GameCube, and a red Wii. I have some old consoles I don't have hooked up right now, such as the NES, SNES, and Genesis (I have too much trouble getting SNES games to work, and I don't have too many games for either my NES or Genesis. I do have an NES Classic though, and I'm considering getting a Genesis Mini).

I'll probably get a PS5 sometime in its eventual lifespan, especially since it'll be backwards compatible with PS4 games. I'll have to see more details about it and how it runs, though. I gotta look at what games the PS5 will offer too!

I own everything except the Xbone this gen. Plus I have a lot of my older systems. And a decent PC.

I might not get any new platforms for a while, though. I miss the relative simplicity of only owning one modern gaming platform.

I'm a dedicated Nintendo+PC gamer now. I usually stick to two systems per generation. It's hard to get most the games I want with just one, but more than two is a slog of too many games, subscriptions, and controllers. Nintendo has always been a staple for me because Mario, Zelda, Mario Kart, Fire Emblem, Monolith games, and Smash Bros. are STILL some of the best of their genres (and some of my favorite series).

I've paired my Nintendo systems with Sony and Microsoft over the years, but I've finally landed on PC because the offerings just keep getting better, the sales are great and numerous, no online subscription, I can use my PC for TONS of things besides gaming, and I can choose any controller that isn't that trash PS controller (well, you can use it, but why would you want to? Seriously, MS and Nintendo controllers are so much better).

Switch and PS4 here. I have an Xbox One S for playing Forza but it mainly is a paperweight so that will be getting sold soon. Between the Switch and the PS4 really have all bases covered when it comes to gaming, perfe t combo!

As other people have said, having just a Switch limits you from some great exclusives. I've really been enjoying Kingdom Hearts 3 and some Forza on the Xbox One, games I'm unlikely to ever be able to play on Switch.

I have and regularly use a Switch & PS4, but we also have a PS3 in use (I don't use it but others do), as well as a 3DS, 360, & Wii which are all put up.

I've had even older systems, but they've either stopped working (N64, PS2) or have been sold (SNES, Genesis, GB Pocket, GBA). Also had an NES & PS1, but I can't remember their fates.

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

This generation the console I use the most is Xbox One X which I consider a paradise for any gamer (this or the S) because of the current-gen games, backwards compatibility and access to rare (and Rare's) games. It's also the platform that offers more games for less money. I also play quite much on Wii U because of some Wii U games and retro games. For quick or portable sessions the New 3DS is my favourite choice. I also have the PS4 which is basically a paperweight after playing the few exclusives I was interested in.

@BlueOcean
My PS4 Slim will not going paper weight anymore until i got my Dragon Quest Builders 2 as part of my Holy Trinity.😃

My Holy Trinity PS4 games are :
1. Dragon Quest Builders 2 (96 from 100)
2. The Sims 4 (94 from 100)
3. Portal Knights (90 from 100)

Lately, i have played my PS4 Slim oftenly after i purchased PSN voucher $50 for The Sims 4 DLC for the first time and i can accept my PS4 Slim after almost 1 year i neglected it. But my biggest loyalty still for Nintendo machines.

Mainly XB1 and Switch though I do go back sometimes to Wii U for stuff not on Switch, 3DS for Fire Emblem, 360 for stuff not on XB1 via backwards compatibility and Wii for GC games.

In the current generation, the Switch is the only console I have. I also have a Wii U, PS3, Wii, and DS but they’re essentially legacy consoles that I play occasionally — the Switch is my main console.

...and it’s kind of a disappointing experience. As of now there just aren’t a whole lot of games on Switch that interest me, so there are numerous times I wish I also had a PS4. Soon I will have very little time for gaming so that’s the reason I didn’t get a PS4, but for the time being I am a bit disappointed by the Switch game library. It has a few gems but not a lot of games have meshed with me so far. It still has time to develop though so I’ll give it the benefit of doubt. But I doubt it will surpass the enjoyment I got from the Wii U, my main console before I got the Switch that gave me my first experiences of Splatoon, Super Mario Maker, and Breath of the Wild.

@shadow-wolf Wii U belongs to the current gen. Nintendo released three consoles this generations: 3DS, Wii U and Switch.

As a Wii U owner I understand you perfectly, Switch is kind of disappointing. If it had cross-buy with Wii U I wouldn't criticise the ports though. Switch is kind of a not-compatible Wii U but that can be used as a handheld but lacks backwards compatibility and many of the key games (and many of the best-selling ones) are Wii U ports.

Was wondering if you guys game ONLY on the Switch or do you have a gaming computer/ps4/xone?

Among those 4, I only have the Switch, but I also have every Nintendo home console since the N64 with the exception of the Wii U, a PS3, a GBC, DS, and 3DS.

I'm happy with what I have. Most modern AAA releases really aren't my cup of tea. Sunset Overdrive, Monster Hunter World, Horizon: Zero Dawn, and Spider-man all look pretty cool, but I can't think of many AAA games that look interesting to me beyond those. There are a few JRPGs I'd like to play. but there are plenty those I missed out on on PS3, and those games are way cheaper.

@BlueOcean Haha true. While there have been some Wii U ports, more so it's that there aren't quite as many new experiences on Switch that resonated with me like new experiences did on Wii U. Switch kind of feels like more of the same, which isn't a bad thing but compared to me experiencing Splatoon, Super Mario Maker, or Breath of the Wild for the first time ... kinda feels hollow. But I don't have a 3DS, so I think this year and the next the Switch will be much better for me personally since it seems to be getting a lot of handheld franchises that I haven't experienced before or in a long time. Super Mario Odyssey and Smash Ultimate are amazing but otherwise I haven't been too impressed by anything on the Switch front, although Pokemon Sword/Shield, Link's Awakening, Luigi's Mansion 3, or Astral Chain could potentially be those experiences.

I have a Switch, 3DS, Xbox One X, PS4 and a Gaming PC.
My PS4 I haven't used since early 2017, and my Xbox One X is a glorified streaming box. Although I don't use it anymore, since it was more convinient to just download the apps on my Smart TV.

RayReliable

For me Switch is currently my only active console. I retired by PS4 Pro + VR to ebay last year as I found I don't have time to sit down and play on the sofa so all my gaming was being conducted on the switch.

I expect to remain Switch only until the PS5 hits or if they do a good bundle for PS4 & TLOU Part 2.

I often wonder why Nintendo doesn't offer a "discrete purchase listing" for when items appear on my credit card bills. I live in fear that one day my wife will look through them and then we'll have The Conversation.

If eShop purchases appeared as blank lines or something on my statements then at least I'd have a chance of explaining it in some way other than "yes I've spent hundreds of pounds this year on games".
