Hi,

I’m a new member and a parent. I know the Bayonetta games are for mature audiences but would really like to play it with my 7 year old son. Is there any option to disable profanity or turn off gore?

And you really think that without profanity and gore the game is then suitable for a 7 year old??

Without having played it, I can only go by many reviews, & many opinions. The game is apparently an m-rated game. I think Bayo, both the character, & the games, were made to be a little explicit(violence, sexually suggestive) in various ways.

What is ok for some kids, may not be the best for others. I'm not telling you how to parent your own kids. I'm simply suggesting that's not the kind of game to play with your kids. One other thing: kids, & teens are highly impressionable. Edit: Every person is, but the effects of any media we take in, are not always noticeable.

Although it's "FLOCK OFF" not the other F-word phrase, no way should a 7 year old play this with the gore and violence, not to mentioned the partial nudity whenever Bayo's gets going.

Good for you asking if it can be turned off, but it cannot be done.

Asphalt 9 / Siege Engine FTW

Bayonetta is Adult game you can't sugar coat it. There plenty of non over the top that will suit his age. Remember how you teach your kid with come back to bit one in the a55. All this chatter is just waste of bandwidth.

This thread is really bugging me. It's part of the style of Bayonetta, which I admit not all people like but I think is nigh on perfect. Even if you hate the style of Bayo, removing the profanity would make it even worse so why would you do thissssss.

Currently procrastinating on: implementing virtual memory and synchronization.
Currently distracted with: Mario Tennis Aces

There was someone on this thread who actually posted an intelligent response to the underlying concerns without being a cardboard cutout backseat parent... but it's been deleted... weird.

Um, ok. You just mirrored what everyone else has already said.

Stay safe, kids: Make sure to save frequently during multiplayer, and always use a stylus!

Asking for Bayonetta to be more family friendly or any other M rated game for that matter is like telling developers to stop expressing their work in mature form. You're better off just getting your a different game. Give him Mario Odyssey he probably won't stop playing it.

Good... good
Now play Dragon Quest

Don't straw man please. He was asking if there was an optional gore/profanity filter, which many games offer. It was a reasonable inquiry, and it has nothing to do with a plea for censorship and restriction of artistic expression like you're making it out to be

@subpopz I'm trying to remember what movie it is that has a "family-friendly edit" as an extra on the DVD, and the "edit" is like three one-minute scenes bookended by the titles and end credits. Maybe it is Deadpool, but I think there's an older movie that did it first.

Remind yourself that overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer.

I have never played the bayonetta games, but judging by most of your responses, I’ll probably just avoid it altogether. I knew it wasn’t a kid’s game, but was hoping for some kind of censorship option so I could play something I’d enjoy too with him. I get it, didn’t realize to what degree of violence this game is. If I play another game of Minecraft, I’m going to die of boredom. I appreciate everyone’s feedback.

This is like buying a dog and teaching it to meow.

There's games out there that are already co-op/multiplayer and family friendly without the need to try and shoe horn Bayonetta into it like Lego Marvel 2, Snipperclips, Mario Kart, Rocket League etc also Fire Emblem Warriors is better choice for family friendly hack and slash fun.

They want to play a game with their kid...Bayonetta isn't for kids...I named games that were for kids...I even gave an example of something closer to Bayonetta that is more suitable for kids...you've complained a lot in the thread.
