@SKTTR I can second the games by DYA Games. Or at least Viviette and Strikey Sisters. I never picked up the other two because info online was scarce and like nobody reviewed them. But Viviette and Strikey Sisters are both great, and can often be found very cheap.

Kamiko is a $5 game that sometimes goes on sale for even less. 2D, top-down action game that only lasts like 30 minutes per run, but is pretty fun and has three different characters to play as. Can get repetitive but it's over before that really sinks in.

Metroid, Xenoblade, EarthBound shill

I run a YouTube/Twitch channel for fun. Check me out if you want to!

Please let me know before you send me a FC request, thanks.

@EvilLucario definitely agree that Kamiko is great I’ve finished it twice. It’s very fun for such a short game and it’s art is super pretty.

I just bought so many games on eshop sale that my card stopped working 😭. I wish they'd introduce a shopping basket for the eshop so a big sale doesn't end up making my card look like it's being frauded

@StableInvadeel Hahaha

@UmbrageHill mostly rubbish really, got contra and konami arcade collections for a bit over a tenner each. Then I bought two bad dream games as a punt for 90p each, realpolitik (also a punt) for 2.24, Lego DC villains season pass for half price (I only bought the game originally to get the lex luthor in superman power armour mini figure) and JCB pioneer mars which was over priced at £20 but enough of a curiosity (licensing, genre and setting) to blow a fiver on it. Oh yeah and virtua racer for £4 which I wanted anyway for the 8player split screen but I doubt I'd get any good games with it without the rest of my friends laughing at the angular wheels lol.

I did see the bridge for £2.60 or something which I think is well worth the price for anyone interested (I had it on ps plus).

Might try and get the data east vertical shooters later if my card allows it and I'm tempted by tiny hands adventure at £2 or something @gcunit.... The screenshots make it look ok so I think I am falling into the same trap as you hahaha

See ya!

Got a trio of horror games.

Layers of Fear Legacy (Bloober Team)

First person horror with adventure elements. Played through the first two chapters. Starts slow, but builds up into something that made me jump a few times already. Seems like it's pretty good, and it's under 4 bucks now. There was a crazy bug in the beginning where I skipped through the ground accidentally and went under the house from where I was able to see all the rooms from below. Apart from that thing (I tried to repeat the glitch but didn't work) the game runs well enough and does lots of interesting things to be scary.

Hidden (Sabec)

In the newest first person horror game on the eShop you just have to find 3 keys and escape from the killer asylum. The framerate is bad, the controls are very basic (you can only walk, run, and turn the flashlight on/off) and... there are no spots to hide. In other stealth escape games you can at least crouch under a table or hide in a locker or something, but here you get nothing but your legs (and they're not even very fast). The environments look good enough but there's not much space to get away, especially the linear starting area is a 50-50 gamble of survival, and even later safe places are rare, and when the roamers gang up with two or more you know you're done. It's a total mess of a game, in terms of difficulty and how you're not able to interact with anything. No weapons, no closing/opening doors, no picking up items. But you have a stamina bar that limits you holding the run button. Also, nearby killers magically suck your sanity bar dry even if they don't see you (or you them) and the consequence is a heavy distortion filter over the whole screen. And turning the flashlight on is totally recommended if you want to die. Turn your sound on so you can hear the murderer footsteps! That's crucial for winning. Once they see you they'll relentlessly come after you. You will love the sluggish controls and slow turning controls! If an enemy is in your hit range you automatically get a nice game over animation where a slaughter weapon weighs down on you. The game doesn't save anything. And there are no other game modes. The only moderately good things about it are the creepy environment (dulled by the foggy darkness and creeping framerate) and the yolo horror. The best fun I can get out of it is when I watch other players torturing themselves with it.

Phantaruk (Forever Entertainment)

And another first person stealth horror game, this time with a killer alien in a spaceship.
In this game there's a story again, and you can save again, you can interact with objects again, you even have a menu to check on items, log entries etc. Hey, it seems were back on a normal quality kind of game again. Here, it's just one thing that you need to watch out for. Just one monster roaming the spaceship, the Phantaruk. And this time you can at least hide under stuff to be unreachable. And Phantaruk doesn't kill you automatically with one hit, so that's a relief compared to 'Hidden'. Having a different objective each check/savepoint and having spots to avoid the deadly bastard is clearly more fun than having to deal with 3 killers that you can't hide from and reset your whole game. The graphics and sounds are also good, but they overused light glow effects. Yeah, it's no Alien Isolation but for just 1€ I've seen a million worse games.

A ton of good games on sale now. Picked up Rapala Pro Fishing for $5 and Transistor for $3.99

Anyone mentioned the Gunman Clive collection yet? I had fun with the first game on 3DS, and 3.99 is a really good price for both.

NintendoByNature

@rockodoodle please let me know how rapala fishing is. Most fishing games aren't fun but if it's actually a good time ill pick it up.

@NintendoByNature the mail reason why I got it was bc of the fishing mini game on street pass. I really enjoyed that. Hopefully I will give it a whirl this weekend. Keep in mind that I kinda like games that don't require too much thought or effort

Bastion is on sale for $2.99 on the US eShop; it's a great port with a reasonable amount of gameplay

Definitely recommend, but I have it on Vita. Might be cool tho to play on the bigger screen one day.

The best value game for my Switch...without a doubt...has been Skyforce Reloaded. I might have paid the regular price of $9.99 – but it regularly goes on sale for less than that. Such an addicting game with tons of replay value.

Ghoulboy for $3 just now. And earlier this morning, guacamelee 2 for $10. Although that may not be dirt cheap the first one was awesome and this is 50% off so it should be a steal.

@SKTTR How you getting on with Layers of Fear? I absolutely loved it. I played through it twice and also the DLC. It is the first game I've played that's genuinely scared me. There was one part I was so freaked out I couldn't bring myself to go where it wanted me to go. I had to come back to it the next day. I just started Amnesia Collection last night and it looks to be more of the same, proper creepy. Going to get stuck into it tonight with the lights out.

It's not on sale, but Downwell is a fantastic indie that's just $2.99 (US). If you have an affinity for indie roguelikes like I do this one's worth a shot.

I can't wait to try out ghoulboy to let you guys know how it is. It was only $3
