Just watching a video about it on youtube. Looks tempting, would you guys recommend Diablo?
As an rpg fan, the Diablo series is an all-time great. As an action game, Diablo is great, whether playing solo or in co-op. Add to that, Blizzard games often have high production value and polish. So even though this game is six years old, it'll shine on the Switch. Especially when compared to the alternatives in the genre (Titan Quest, Victor Vran, Nine Parchments, etc).

I've heard it's a completely different game then it was at launch. Several expansions, tweaks, changes, additions, etc. People say it's a masterpiece now (kinda like Final Fantasy XIV and how it evolved after release)

I would. It's one of my all-time favorite gaming franchises, and Diablo 3 is one of my all-time favorite games. Put many, many hours into the PC version, and I will happily play it for many more on the Switch.
I kind of prefer Diablo games on console over PC. And it's a shame that D2 never got released on a console. Playing on a PC is hard on the mouse, and in my case causes the index finger to cramp up something fierce after a while.
Maybe I missed it, but are the rumours accompanied by a release date? This would be an awesome timekiller for the dark winter days. Close the curtains, light some candles, order a pizza and forget that Saturday even is an actual day...
Diablo is regarded as the best dark fantasy RPG series. Most hack&slays or dungeon crawlers you play today are inspired by Diablo.
Diablo III is the "fastest-selling PC game of all time". It sold 3.5 million copies in the first day and 6.3 million copies in the first week.
Diablo essentially invented the real-time hack-and-slash RPG genre to the point that similar games like Titan Quest, Torchlight, and Victor Vran are called "Diablo clones".
As for popularity, Blizzard released a first year info graphic with play time statistics, and the numbers were insane. And this despite naysayers squawking about how terrible it was.
My favorite were the players who would post long diatribes in the official forum trashing Diablo 3, and then you would check their profile only to find that they remained active players with hundreds and in some cases thousands of hours logged. The trolls eventually wised up and set their profiles to private which was still a dead give away. Their excuse: "I only logon to make sure the game still sucks." Yeah, right.
The only downside to this release is that it's almost a guarantee that the physical release will have that ugly "required download" banner at the top of the box art. Even the PS3 version weighs in at 14.77GB. So between the added content and the Switch version having slightly better textures than the PS3/360 version, I expect the game to be more than a 16GB game cart would allow.
Edit: P.S. - honestly, I wouldn't put it past Activision/Blizzard to use an 8GB game cart and put a 20GB download in our laps.

I only ever played the beta & demo of Diablo 3, but will probably get it on Switch, since I spend many hours on Diablo 1 & 2, including the expansion packs for both. The reason I didn't get it on PC is that when it was released my internet connection wasn't to great, with frequent disconnects, and I didn't want to be playing the game, only to be kicked out due to its "always online" requirement. I think on consoles they did away with that, so I'm hoping it'll be the same on Switch.
Of course, nowadays I have a fairly stable internet connection, so the "always online" shouldn't be an issue anymore.
N00b question, but why is this 'always online'? Or does that only count for online co-op?
Always-online was implemented largely to combat the rampant cheating that plagued Diablo 2 and to prevent piracy since monster AI and loot tables are all calculated server-side, and attempts to create unofficial private servers have been spectacularly unsuccessful. Diablo 2 essentially installed a local copy of the server to the player's computer which allowed hackers to look for and implement all manner of cheats and exploits.
@Magician: Let's hope you're wrong and that we get a 100% physical release.
The optimist in me hopes that Blizzard either does an excellent job with their compression, and fits the entire game on a 16GB game cart. Or, Activision/Blizzard eats the cost and uses a 32GB game cart. But I have my doubts.

Judging what Blizzard has done with games on other systems (e.g. Overwatch on PS4/XB1), I think Diablo 3 will be on a 1GB cart with the rest of the game being a compulsory download.
