Surprised that there isn’t already a thread about this game. I played the PS4 version at Best Buy, today, played three courses and seems to be a pretty solid kart racer. I have not played the original, so I can not say how it compares. Has anyone else here in the States played the demo at Best Buy?

I'm really looking forward to the remake, the original game is my favourite game of all time, it's so much fun, I still play it regularly, I recommend giving the original a play sometime, it's still a blast to play.
I haven't played any demo of the remake yet but I'm glad I haven't, with games that mean as much to me as CTR does I wsnt to experience the full game upon release all in one go.

I'm interested although I haven't even played the Crash Bandicoot franchise (but bought the trilogy for Switch months ago, still sealed LOL). But I'm getting excited, because I read that it's been made with attention to detail and it even has characters, karts and circuits from the sequels Crash Nitro Kart and Crash Tag Team Racing. That's a good extra for a remake. I won't be able to compare or tell what comes from which game, though.

I really want to get this one. The original game is considered a masterpiece and this one it's a beautiful remake with additional content from the sequels, it's as generous as a package as Crash N.sane Trilogy.

I'm really interested, but I'm worried about the seasonal content potentially making it so I'll miss out on new characters if I don't play online. I generally don't like time-limited content and try to ignore it - my hobbies don't get to dictate my life, I'll play it when I want and progress at my own pace. If that means missing out on cosmetic content, then I don't want that content. But if they're going to hold characters hostage, then I don't want that game.

So I understand there is a cheap version, and a expensive version called Nitro oxide edition. The only difference seems to be that it immediately unlocks Nitro oxide. So in other words, you almost pay twice the price for a early unlock. Heck no, I'll go for the cheap version!

@Henmii No, there is true exclusive content in the form of character skins and some exclusive kart visual customization options but probably isn't worth the extra money.

@CanisWolfred I believe they've confirmed that the new courses will be playable both online and locally after the seasons expire. The unlockable content would also be available in the Pit Stop afterwards.

You're right, I missed that! Okay, that's good. I've been looking forward to this for a while, so it's good to know I won't have to skip it over post-launch concerns.

@Grumblevolcano,

I agree. sooo much extra money for a early unlock and a few skins and kart customization, what are they thinking?!

Got my copy earlier today. Haven't played yet but that will change soon.

Own up to Joy-Con Drift, Nintendo. We all know it's your fault

Can anybody give me some thoughts once they've played? I've read some reviews, and people seem to love it overall. One biggie, though: drift mechanic seems most people at the worst hate it and at the best think it's unintuitive no matter how often you do it. Is that true?

The drift mechanic just takes getting use to. It's fairly different from Mario kart. But different doesn't mean bad. Personally i prefer it. It's tougher to master and rewarding when you nail it.
There's much less rubber banding in this game too. If you win a multiplayer race it's probably because you were the best and not because you got some insane power up and your opponent got blue shelled on the line.

Mayo for Sam. Year TBC.

I've only played about 10 minutes on my way to work so far, but I can see why people wouldn't like the drift mechanic. There's a hop before you drift which delays it, meaning you have to start drifting a car boot before you want to turn.

Otherwise, game's looking very promising from that short teaser! Can't wait to spend a good chunk of my weekend on it.

Sucks no Nintendo blogs have done up an in-depth review of the Switch version, that’s so strange

Man, this game is brutal (I'm playing in Normal difficulty).

Only on the fourth track, and despite drifting a fair bit, I'm struggling to get to 3rd place. It seems that if you get hit by even one item in this game, it massively affects your chance of winning a race.

All versions of this are having online issues, the AI needs patched.

My copy arrived yesturday, but couldn't play it last night so looking forward to trying it today. @SlyPlayr09 Thanks for the breakdown of what you think. I'm looking forward to Nintendolife's review which should I guess be up anytime...

Maybe its because my internet was funky yesterday, but I have gotten three glitches so far. In Adventure mode.

Two of them were errors kicking me out of the game the moment I reached the finish line in 1st place, and one time during the first boss my game just froze and I had to manualy go back to the home menu myself.

Otherwise its fun, but those glitches really killed my enjoyment.
