Hi everyone. I want to surprise my boyfriend and buy us both a switch lite each so that we can play Pokémon together. However I'm confused about online play. I've seen you need a membership?? Does that mean we both need a membership in order to play when we are apart. Thanks
Hi. If you buy two copies of the game it's easy to do if they are both bought under a different Nintendo account or as a physical copy. If you only want to spend out on one copy you can share but It's a bit complicated to do. I think you would need a Switch family membership or just two accounts that both have Nintendo Switch Online. I've found a video that might help because I'm trying to find out if i can play with my neices after allowing them to download my games. Heres the video, hope it's helpful :
If you mean Pokémon Sword and Shield, then yes: you need an online membership. And also yes: you need two memberships. However, there's also the so-called "family membership", which supports up to 8 players, which is actually cheaper than buying two separate memberships for a single player. And you could also try to find a couple of other users in your circle of family and friends, and each let them pay a part of the membership, so it's even cheaper than it already is.
Here's some information. I saw you're in the UK, but the same information applies for all regions, and the second link to the official online shop should automatically prompt you to go to your own region, once you decide to purchase.
