It doesn’t look like there’s a thread about this game yet, but I thought there should be.

Heigh Ho Heigh Ho. It’s off to work (from home) I go.

I played this for an hour or so earlier and it's brilliant, although I don't entirely see the point of the feature that matches you up with other players who like apple pie

Downloaded last night, but haven't played. It's one of those, "I don't want that.... Watch trailer, read reviews.... Shut up and take my money!!!!"

I just bought this, it’s currently downloading.

@Dogorilla Is that actually a thing?

I’m about to start playing, what’s the best single-player game? What’s the best multiplayer game?

I really like the presentation of this game, even the somewhat cringe inducing characters. Everything feels smooth. Looking forward playing more of this against the computer, against friends and online.

Good on those that love the game so far. But honestly, this game has a shocking lack of customization/options/extra content compared to the DS game and just on its own as a Switch game. I add the 2006 part to emphasize how a more primitive handheld like DS somehow offered more extra content/customization.

-A huge lack of extra rules/settings/options for each individual game
-Cannot add/subtract number of players for each game (between 2-8 total, depending on the game). 2006 DS game had this.
-Cannot customize individual CPU difficulties. 2006 DS game had this.
-Only 1 unlockable theme/board. The 2006 DS game had between 3-8 unlockable themes/boards for -each- game category.
-No Mission Mode with game-specific challenges
-Games are not intuitively categorized by game type like in DS (card games, board games, variety games, etc.). The new "guide" feature kinda tries to do that but is stupidly convoluted.
-Cannot play with friends against randoms
-Cannot turn off the guide feature
-No option to turn off the voice lines
-Tutorials are somehow worse/more lacking than DS version
-Lack of online record keeping
-No voice chat option and no text (custom or preset) when playing with randoms
-Online connection quality has been a mixed bag
-This one's a more personal gripe, but they cut out some of the (imo) best games like Rummy, Contract Bridge, Field Tactics, BS, Takeover, Balance from the DS game. Some of the new additions are great, don't get me wrong, but i would have liked those to return.

That's not to say that it is completely bad or anything. I had some fun so far with a few of the games (old and new) and having a couple extra difficulties is nice. Not that the DS game was perfect, far from it, but everything here is just so unbelievably barebones. It's very underwhelming as a 2020 Switch sequel to a 2006 DS game. Between this, every Mario Party after 8, and Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival.....my opinion is solidified that ND Cube is the worst developer associated with Nintendo by a landslide, beating out Artoon/Arzest.

@BabyYoshi65 Yeah, you've probably seen it now if you've started playing, but for some reason at the start it asks you what your favourite food is, then later on there's an option that lets you see the profiles of 20 randomly selected players who share the same favourite food.

@ChameleonBros I haven't played the DS game and I haven't played much of the Switch one yet, but I do agree with most of your criticisms. I have no regrets about buying the game though, given its relatively low price and the number of games included.

@Dogorilla I chose Hamburger.

@ChameleonBros Yes, as a guy who loved the DS game, yeah, I noticed the lack of unlockables as compared to its predecessor. Also you missed the instructions were better for the DS game.

Some other things I noticed:
-They could have nixed the introductory sequences to each game and it would not have made a difference.
-Some of these games are throwaways you won't really spend much time on, like toy boxing, which could have been so much better.
-The controls on toy curling are awful.
-Toy Tennis is nearly unplayable due to hit detection issues. Literally the ball will fly right through the racket when it should have been a hit. Needs patching.
Edit: -The AI is hit or miss. On some games it'll smoke you, on others, like tank battle, it's a pushover.

@Mordridakon Yup, brought up some good points that I missed, agree with all of those.

Some other things to add:

-Golf only has 9 holes, and only 3 clubs (1 wood, 1 iron, 1 putter). I'm not expecting Mario Golf or PGA Tour levels of depth, but I mean, come on. 1989 Original Game Boy launch title Golf literally had more content.
-Shooting Gallery only has the same three stages.
-Tanks and Team Tanks only have 3 stages each. 2006 Wii Play's Tanks game had 100 stages for comparison.

I've played it some more and my biggest problem is the overall package is weaker. You've got the almost uniformly awful toy sports games(Toy Baseball is probably the best, but I still can't figure how to throw the special pitches). The card games are missing Spades, Rummy, Hearts and Bridge which were in the DS game, and war is included? The board game selection is pretty good, but I've seen several people say the omission of Go is baffling, and it is. As @ChameleonBros mentioned, Golf, Shooting Gallery, Tanks/team tanks have too few stages each, and so does the car racing game.
It's like the developers put in a bunch of half-optimized, half-finished games in order to get to 51 games. I think it would have been a far better title if it had fewer games but all of them were fully realized with good AI and a ton of stages and options on all of them. Instead, you're just going to focus on the best board games and card games, and ignore the rest.
Do I regret my purchase? No. But it could have been way, way better.

@ChameleonBros : You've pointed out all of my disappointments (and then some!).

I have been tremendously disappointed. I've played it for a couple of hours yesterday and really enjoyed my time with it, but my God, the lack of customisation/content is just pathetic, and I can't see myself coming back to this in the years to come like I had been with the DS version (I've already mastered about 13 activities).

Activities that were previously playable by up to 4, 6, or even 8 players are mostly limited to just TWO players now! In this release, multiplayer is limited to just four people, and even then, the selection of four player activities is stupidly (and unjustifiably) limited.

Golf was fun (briefly), but I'll probably find myself returning to Hamster's arcade port for my golf fix once the novelty of the Clubhouse version wears out.

The first activity I tried out was bowling (immediately disappointed by the lack of customisation there), and while it may serve as a nice little stopgap until Nintendo wakes up to themselves and release a Wii Sports successor, part of me is glad that the Bowling/Golf activities weren't designed in order to render a possible Wii Sports successor redundant.

As much as I hate it when software is constantly updated to resolve issues that should have been addressed BEFORE hitting shelves, I do hope that Nintendo addresses these gripes or releases a sequel in the next year with new activities and features. I would much rather have paid the extra $20 for a more feature-rich package. Funnily enough, the Switch instalment is retailing for AU$10 LESS than the original on DS (and that isn't taking inflation into consideration).

For the price, it's a solid little compilation, but it seriously pales in comparison to its amazing predecessor. I would strongly recommend those with a DS/3DS to pick up a copy of the original game and/or download the bite-sized DSiWare releases.

I only have the 4-game demo right now, but it's pretty fun. The AI either needs some tweaking or some more levels, though. On Connect 4 Normal difficulty, I let the CPU go first and still won in 4 moves, but I can't even win on the very next difficulty up.

@Xyphon22 : I think I won on my first attempt at all difficulties (at most, I would have lost once, but I do not recall losing during yesterday's brief session).

The memory game, for instance, will completely smoke the player at the "impossible" difficulty as the AI will always remember the cards (rather than emulating the "forgetfulness" of a human player at lower difficulties), but with activities such as Last Card, the difficulty setting is almost inconsequential.

Dare I say that four in a row would fall into the "inconsequential" camp as far as I am concerned. Hell, at least two of my wins yesterday were accidental.

Perhaps the seemingly difficult CPU will allow you to form other strategies if you were to play against human players.

Question before i buy the game.
Is this game acceptable enough to play for Casual gamer like me ? (Based on the unlockable system, configuration setting, controlling, variety, CPU intelligence, etc)

@Silly_G Given Super Mario Party, I don't think we'll be getting post-launch support for this game (both are by NDcube).

The biggest disappointment so far is that Blackjack is game #22 and not #21 .

I've only played for an hour or so but I agree that it's bit lacking when it comes to features but I can still see myself playing some of the games every now and then for a good while.

I hadn't even heard of Mancala before but it seems like I've been missing out. It just clicked right away. Obliterated the CPU in my first game, they got 4 points and I took the rest. The second game ended in similar results. Wanted to try out other games too so I stopped there but I hope the harder difficulty levels are more worthy of an opponent.

It's its, not it's.

@Grumblevolcano : I'm perfectly fine with that as I would not have bought any DLC anyway. I'd prefer a brand new game.
