Topic: Classic games online feature COULD be amazing

I like the idea of having the retro library service that Nintendo revealed to be part of the Online service.

If it's well implemented it could be a great thing.

Having multiplayer online is probably what they are going for, probably leaderboards as well.

But...

Think if there was more.

Possibility to organize multiplayer tournaments à la Arcade championships ie. you collect points from each game and whomever gets the most points total wins.

Making bracket tournaments available with competitive multiplayer games. Fighting your way through balloon fighter match after another to win a title.

Making the idea above to have multiple games, an online playoff of classic multiplayer games.

Possibility to jump in and out from ongoing co-op multiplayer games (Go help a friend or a random stranger on Battletoads).

Spectator modes.

None of this is going to happen, but it would be damn great if it did.

As of now, I am just happy to get those games for some casual handheld busride online gaming.

What would you like to see?

I would change the title to 'SHOULD' be amazing. I don't want to be too negative on them though, because online classic games that didn't have online is prob the most forward thinking thing they have announced in recent times.

All I need is Mario Party 2 and 3 for online play and I'm happy.

Heh not that it's a possibility... But can you imagine The Legend of Zelda online?

A group of little 8bit Links playing in the same map all at once. Competing to see who does what first.

"Player 1 got the triforce piece in level 2!"
"Player 4 is playing a money making game!"
"Player 3 got the bomb upgrade in level 5!"
"Player 2 was defeated by Ghoma! "

@Meowpheel or player 1 gets the wooden sword and players 2-4 go swordless

Oh wow preventing others from getting the stuff would be evil.

That will be the insane mode.

I was thinking it could work like... Player 1 gets it first, he gets the points and it unlocks for everyone else.

@Meowpheel ya you could incorporate speed running into a game like LoZ , I dont know if their is a proper order to do the game so doing something first might be hard to have a point system.

Oh actually half of the dungeons must be done in a very strict order (can't access/beat the next without the item from the last). The other four are open at all times, but some are still harder than others.

The harder tasks could give more points than the simpler ones. Maybe killing enemies could also give points, the harder enemies giving more of course. Deaths could remove points.
