Topic: Civilization VI

IGN has reviewed Civ 6 and given it as score of 9.4. Reads like it will be a solid entry to my Switch software library. The only downside I can see is that it’s reported in docked mode it tends to jug.

I’m very tempted by this too. I’d have preferred Endless Legend, but I haven’t played civ 6 on any platform yet.

Really looking forward to this...Civ on the go! Hopefully a couple of good reviews and solid controls

Ah blast! Just got the dreaded ‘your order has been delayed’ email from Base.com. They say 2K haven’t sent them enough stock or some such. So no CIV VI for me tomorrow. If it comes after November now, i’ll just hold off and get it as an Xmas gift.

Can’t complain really as they shipped my pre-order for SNK ARCADE COLLECTION a week early!

@Lroy I had the same with The Game Collection, the trouble I think is Base.com and The Game Collection we’re selling Civ 6 around £8 cheaper than the likes of Amazon.

I switched my order to Shopto (£37.85) and received my despatched email this morning.

@Farmboy74 Yeah. From Base.com I got SNK COLLECTION for like £27.50 much, much cheaper than the £42 I originally paid to NIS Europe. And that came a week early. So I Pre-ordered CIV VI from Base too as it was £35 approx. Shame this one got delayed.

This happened to me with Amazon UK earlier this year with the SF II COLLECTION. Ended up cancelling and just bought it on launch day from Argos.

I’ve so many games to play, it might just be that I wait and put CIV under the Xmas tree instead.

WE HAVE ANOTHER SWITCH EXCLUSIVE CLASSIC LADIES AND GENTLEMEN (in the console space, obviously, which should go without saying, but it seems you have to say it every single time nowadays because there's always that one person that chimes in with "but mobile" or "but PC")

So there is no Hot seat option... I was going to buy it today at work but now I am reconsidering ... damn.

I usually try and avoid pedantry, but I don't see why it should go without saying that it's only a 'console exclusive' and not a full exclusive.

Either a game is exclusive to one piece of hardware or it isn't. The mobile and PC markets are massive, so I don't really see 'console exclusive' as much to shout about for anyone other than legit console war fanboys.

Promising early review though, no doubt.

9.4 is just a lie. Many will NOT buy the game because of the Hot Seat problem. Even the iPad version have it. I somehow think Nintendo is responsible for that and it will hurt the game sales.

I find the ign review very thin btw, that's why I'm waiting for one or two more. Do you expect this site to be doing a review?

It is perfect for the Switch. iPad has it, PC has it but the Switch does not.

And people are preordering it thinking it will have it.

Yeah 9.4 seems ridiculously high. It might have warranted such a high score back in the first iteration but every game since has followed the same formula. And this is a port on top of that! One with features missing. I think there is a switch tax on review scores too!

@Roamer I was thinking the same. I haven't played the game and know little about the series, haven't even read that review, but I do know that FIFA gets stung for missing features by reviewers. Not a practice I agree with actually, but with the features I've heard about that are missing, this must be a very good game to still get anything over a 9.

Once my copy arrives from 2K ill be reviewing this. Have never played any of the games, so this is going to be new to me. I agree as well that I thought the IGN review was a little thin on the ground, not really saying much as they reviewed it before on PC.

I just reviewed Diablo 3 on Switch after reviewing it originally on Xbox One.... My review for the Switch version was still a full review. Linking to the PC version review in IGNs is lazy tbh. Expecting people to read that as well when a full review could have been done in the first instance.
