@Dogorilla I think a 10 year old could pick it up with some practice. A lot of the game is fairly common sense ideas. Homes and business need water and electricity, getting water from polluted streams makes people sick, if you have fire issues you need fire departments, fight crime with police, etc... The game has options for unlimited money and such that allow you to mess around to your heart's content if you want to play that way.

20-odd hours later, man, I love this game. While you can't actually beat this game in the traditional sense, building a monument at the end of the game and buying all the land is pretty much it for a single city and I did that. My city was so satisfying at the end! I had a massive subway system crisscrossing my city, I had a crazy high level education, with over 20 elementary schools, about a dozen high schools and 4 universities! I had no industry! My whole city was residential, shopping and a ton of office and business space! I was raking in the money! I had trains connecting all over, I had 7 different major Highway connections! I had both a regular and an international airport! I built a harbor and a cargo hub! My city looked like a spider web of streets spreading out across the land. I had solar, wind and nuclear power! I had all kinds of unique buildings, even more than the ones I needed to unlock my monument and parks and recreation buildings all over! I had tourist districts and leisure districts. Legal recreational drugs and maxed out healthcare! My crime rate was below 5% almost the entire game! The only bad thing about the town was sound pollution, which was beyond rampant and the only consistent complaint my people had.

At the end I had a lovely city of about 90k people, my citizens calling it paradise on Earth! And I finished it by building the Space Elevator!

I never experienced the slowdown and massive frame drops some review sites reported. Perhaps you can trigger that if you build your city really poorly, or perhaps it only happens if you have some kind of cascading massive failure. But I never saw any of that. Even in the extreme late game.

Seriously, ignore that horrible review on this site and others. This is a must have for fans for city builders, and runs just fine on Switch. I played nearly the entire 20 something hours in portable mode, it runs more than acceptably.
