Hi, so I am travelling and left my wall adapter at home because for some reason I thought using a conventional charging method would work ie the same way I charge all of my devices. I got a USB C to A to charge the Switch on the go using either a USB block wall-charger or my macbook pro, but the battery life doesn't seem to go up, all it displays is a battery symbol in the corner with a bit of red in it and a lightning-bolt logo on the side of that after a couple minutes doesnt seem to be going anywhere... so I removed it from fear of frying on something.
