I assume the vast amount of people will have very few "ignores" per se. So I would hope that Nitendo would put some kind of software check in place that would alert Nintendo if large numbers of people put one particular person on ignore. And then Nintendo, not me, can address that one person. Anyway, if I ignore that person, for all intensive purposes that person is gone for me. The last thing I need is Nintendo expecting me to police their service. I just need to know that if I choose to use the Nintendo's service that I have to play by their rules. As long as I know upfront what those rules are, then I am cool with that.
@ValhallaOutcast yeah this whole experience has made me realize that they definitely don't do that. If they did however this whole situation would be avoided. Would be a nice thing to for them to add.
@Hikingguy yeah very true. One thing I'm actually happy with is the lack of communication on this multiplayer game. Takes away having to even deal with it. Which I know is temporary and the block button will be my best friend when they get it figured out.
@Filth_Element Huh? Nintendo have allowed reporting for stuff like this for a long time. I'm pretty sure you could do it on both Wii U and 3DS. In my opinion, the fact that that they haven't so readily enabled tattling for ultimately insignificant infractions is a sign that they are in fact trying to stay in-step with the times.
Going to be honest, I'm surprised that the Switch didn't even auto-check that name and forbade it. I mean, even the 3DS had that function.
Why? As you said, it's a name. While I'm sure it's not a very common name now, we shouldn't assume the use of it is referring to the conqueror. Otherwise we should assume that all Miis called Charles are referring to Charlemagne, and those called Julius are referring to Julius Caesar.
@BAN hmmmm sorry but I think Nintendo are very much behind the competition when it comes to online functions. There was a recent article either here or on kotaku about when Nintendo were implementing the miiverse the devs that were helping them were mentioning their competitors services nintendo made it clear they had no idea how the PlayStation network or Microsoft services even worked as they never used them.
Like I say I personally think they are well behind in that regard.
Some of Mario Odyssey is seriously giving heart palpitations.... that plumber is trying to kill me!
