Yeah, @BlueOcean ... It's really not going to affect me, directly, as I only play single-player But I hope that they do have some ideas & they're just not saying yet because they're working on it
You know if they said they were looking into it but then couldn't find a way to do it, that'd be worse than not saying anything

@BruceCM True. LOL To be honest most of my friends aren't gamers so I was really surprised when two of them got a Switch although one of them is already complaining about the game library. I usually play solo or online multiplayer.

Too much 'shovel-ware', @BlueOcean .... ? That's a complaint I've heard but I'm like there's thousands of games in there, now; must be plenty you'd like? Didn't they know what games they wanted for it or something?

@BruceCM One of them got it for Breath of the Wild and the other one for Super Mario Odyssey and Mario Kart 8. That's how I realised that the Switch version of BotW was fixed in the villages and the Wii U version (which I have) still is like a slideshow in the villages.

Uh huh, @BlueOcean .... & they're complaining there's hardly any other games they like? While I don't have most of the E-shop games, there's still quite a lot of good ones there, apart from big games that also get physical releases

@BruceCM The guy with BotW works quite much and he's happy to play a few games when he has time in his hands and BotW can consume your whole life if you try to find all the Koroks as we all know. The guy with the Mario games complains more because he wants games that are impressive, epic and with a good story. He says that he can't find more games he is interested in. Actually, I have a third friend with a Switch that has the Pokemon bundle but we didn't like the game very much. It's funny because the Switch is the first Nintendo console that I don't own since SNES (not counting Virtual Boy that wasn't even released in Europe) and everyone around me has one.

I guess if anything the lite may be the same but overall it’s poor, you really need to buy the games twice

Unless you get at least one OG Switch, then TV splitscreen becomes an option. Really depends on what you want to spend and do.
Personally, I'd weigh the cost. One OG Switch costs $100 more than a LiteSwitch. Buying two new copies of Mario Party (for example) already goes slightly beyond that. So, personally, I'd just go with at least 1 OG Switch as the cost of multiple copies of many games is going be substantially more.

Well, I had more sense than to bother with really looking for korok seeds, @BlueOcean .... Still took 100 + hours to finish
If 'impressive' means graphically & in the same way as XBox One/ PS4, he's not going to find those Epic & with good stories? I'd suggest several but I guess he'd complain about the anime or cartoon style

@BruceCM Which ones you'd recommend him? He didn't like Octopath. If I had a Switch the first game I'd buy would be Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and none of them have it LOL. I didn't like 1 very much but I loved X, it's one of my favourite games ever and the best Wii U game in my opinion (not counting Twilight Princess HD he he he).

I only cared about Koroks until I had enough for the last equipment slot.

Possibly XB2, @BlueOcean ... I'd want a clearer idea of his 'impressive' & 'epic' games? Along with what style of gameplay he prefers? Maybe Bayonetta 1 & 2, since they're action games, visually impressive in a way & could be 'epic' ?

@BruceCM I don't think that he'd like Bayonetta. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is a better choice.

BruceCM

I'm going back to the thought he'd be better off with a PS4 or XB1, given what he said...

@BruceCM Yeah, probably. I am going to recommend that one an Xbox One.

@rsbhj You could buy one regular Switch with the dock and possibly find another regular Switch without the dock, used, online. That would likely save you a decent chunk of money. The Switch lite is really a significant downgrade without the discount to justify it. Odds are one dock is plenty and unlike when the Switch was brand new, finding it used, cheaper, isn't hard anymore if you're willing to look around a little. Since you're intending these are Xmas presents, you certainly have time to look for a deal.

Of course, I literally wouldn't reccomend the Switch Lite to anyone at its current price. For any reason. Lacking the dock, TV mode, HD rumble and having a smaller screen is a major downgrade and the Lite doesn't cost enough less to justify it.

What about the Wolfenstein games or Assassin's Creed III if they haven't played them on other systems? Or any of the numerous Final Fantasy games now available? Even DOOM is a pretty epic game, though not open world. Are they looking for only first-party Nintendo games that fit this "epic" moniker?

Banjo-

@rallydefault I'm going to recommend him Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Yes, he's probably looking for something first or second party because he has a PC.

Well, if he's really only playing 3rd party games, @rallydefault .... It'd make more sense to get PS4 or XB1, where those games look better, on TV
I love my Switch, personally & I liked having 3rd party games to keep me going but I just think the sort of games it seemed like they wanted weren't really Switch stuff
It depends what he means by 'impressive' & 'epic', @BlueOcean but I just got the distinct impression it'd basically mean AAA PS4/XB1 games

I think I will optd for the Switch Console as multiplayer will be more fun on the TV, they can just share the handheld version and will look to pick up a cheaper 2nd hand one without dock down the line or a cheaper lite 2nd hand or next year, the youngest will be happy either way.

If the lite was coming in better priced, which it might do by xmas (but I doubt it) then it would be more attractive.

I was never a fan of handheld consoles, with the exception of the odd shot of tetris on the gameboy. Other option is I just opt for the 2DS XL as cheaper all round

BruceCM

Well, presumably, there'd be plenty of games for that, @rsbhj .... Since they haven't had one. It's really whichever you think they'd get more use from!
