@Zuljaras
Nope. You can play from cartridge of Vita but missing lots of DLC and updates, you can play on Switch but only 1st game.

Either way, it's a trivial issue. What matters is the game being on thesystem, and a quality port

@JaxonH I get that. It is important to have quality ports on the Switch. I only speak from a collationer's point of view. Wanting to have a thing that even after 30 years to be able to play it just like that. Like NES games. I know that the standards today are different but a man can dream right? After all we have many games on the Switch like that.

Also just to be sure even the first game is not all on the cart:

This is 2K tweet.

JaxonH

@Zuljaras Its most of it and will run from cart, as every Switch game does. Even the Bioshock games will all play from cart, albeit a set portion of each game.

But ya, for that ya pretty much have to stick to retro collecting. Nowadays emulation preserves games. And digital storefronts that will never expire for redownloads for decades.

I'm past all that now. I just wanna play great games on the hybrid. Steam is my "own 30 years from now" version.

Besides which, any 30 year old games I want to play today are re-released on modern consoles anyways. And itll be the same 30 years from now. If people care about playing Borderlands 2 30 years from now at all. By then Borderlands 10 will be out.

@Ryu_Niiyama Yeah, I'm going to need a 1TB card after these 3 collections drop... wish they'd dropped to sub-100 already.

Heavyarms55

I wish I could talk my friends into playing these with me, but they already ran through them all on Steam back when they were new.

Still, I can play single player right? I've been saying the Switch lacked some good shooters aside from Splatoon 2, and these games plus Bioshock should fit nicely.

Now if pigs could fly and Microsoft could throw us Halo 1-3 and Reach, and EA gave us the Mass Effect Trilogy... I think I'd be okay with being quarantined forever.

@Heavyarms55 yes they can all be played solo. I've probably put 1000 hours into the series overall and I'd say 75-80% was solo. Having a friend or two to play with is great but the games can absolutely be played by yourself.

Ya, totally. These games are like Monster Hunter- fantastic with friends but still one of the most fun single player games out there. Borderlands especially will make for great local wireless co-op. As long as it has gyro, which it does!

I loved Borderlands 2 on Vita so much, it was just a horrible version to play, mostly due to lack of a full button set and needing to designate portions of the touch screen and rear touch pad as buttons. Games like this just weren't suited to Vita any more than 3DS, because neither had the full console button set like Switch does.

Making the physical cartridge require a 6.6GB download for the BL1 DLC, never mind the 35GB for BL2 and BL-P, makes me want to puke. At least the base game for BL1 is on the cartridge, unlike XCOM or BioShock. That at least makes the game worth buying used.

If they got the 64gb carts why not use them. Those buying Physical will buy for that reason and then what left download to the microSD 1tb if one can get it.

@Magician Uh...? You still get all three games if you but used within the next 20-40 years

@link3710
Who’s buying this game used 30 years from now anyways 😁

I’m buying the game now for my enjoyment now, not for when I’m retired in a nursing home. Doubt I’m going to care about my copy of Borderlands on the Nintendo Switch when I’m 70 years old any more than I care about a copy of Sonic Rush on the Nintendo DS now. Aside from having on the shelf to look pretty. Buried amongst 1000 other games on a shelf I collected over 30 years that I’m never actually going to play again.

Definitely clearing some space out though. About 120gb for all the 2k games + Xenoblade Chronicles. It’s nice that the games are sold separately though, because that means I can archive Borderlands 1. I don’t really need three of them on my system anyways. Did the same thing for Assassins Creed, Sniper Elite, Saints Row, etc. I picked the best of the bunch and archive everything else in the series. I’ll probably keep BL2 and PreSequel, Bioshock Infinite and XCOM 2. But I do intend to play Bioshock 1 and 2 first. But after I beat them I’m archiving them. Infinite can stay though.

@JaxonH Lol, I was just saying, the claim that it was going to be only Borderlands 1 if you buy it used was bogus.

Oh I know.

Only the first part was to you specifically, just added on to my general comment at the top. Usually I try to rearrange to make that more clear but sometimes slips my mind

The game isn't showing as coming soon on the eShop here in Australia. Anyone else nervous it may get delayed like Shantae did?

@JaxonH - I cant agree more. I was and am a big fan of Vita, but Nintendo really went and took the idea of the Vita / VitaTV when their backs were against the ropes (after Wii U) and came out with one of my fave consoles to date. I'm a handheld gamer first and foremost these days and hot damn - to have games like The Witcher, GRiD, Overwatch, Ghostbusters etc in my hands is just magical.

I played ALOT of Borderlands 2 on Vita and you could see despite how hard Iron Galaxy worked on getting it ported across, the Vita just didn't quite have the power under the hood to bridge the gap between handheld and dedicated TV console to do ports justice (Killzone: Mercenary was another, amazing story entirely but that was made specific to the Vita's strengths and was not a port).

So like everyone else, I am FROTHING over the Borderlands games coming in two days. Perfect fit. I really, REALLY hope they don't delay them, as like I said - no sign at all of them on the eShop here in Australia which is a shame as I would have those suckers preloaded yesterday.

Bioshock is another given for me but my excitement lies in Borderlands. SO glad the decided to port them across.

Considering that Shantae was supposed to release in less than 24 hours and got delayed it’s entirely possible the 2k collections might follow suit.
I really hope not though, been itching to play Borderlands since it got announced.

GeeEmm

JaxonH

2k collections have already shipped out to me from BestBuy, and have been sent in gift boxes to notable Youtubers, and early copies have already started arriving in peoples’ mailboxes.

So I don’t think they’re being delayed. You can’t pre-order digitally here are either even though they are in the coming soon section.

They’ll show up on release day in the recent releases list. Shame we couldn’t pre-load though because there’s a lot of downloading to do. Turns out I’m going to have to work overtime Friday, on release day. I’ll be playing borderlands, BioShock, XCOM 2 and Xenoblade all day at work because all I have to do is a quick, 20 min job every 4 hrs. But they need somebody there to do it.

Cool, good to know. Just a little strange that they are not in the Coming Soon section.
Haha yeah a lot of downloading to do tomorrow, hopefully they release at midnight so I can get them done by morning.

Thanks for sharing this mate. Looks absolutely stunning. I really hope Nintendo release it on time here as they sometimes tend to screw up dates.
