Couldn't find a proper Borderlands thread for the 3 new releases dropping in May.

Gyro motion aiming is confirmed!

As is 1080p docked, which means 720p portable should be a lock. No downgraded assets either. The full, proper games on handheld.

Vita version, you had a good run. It's been swell...

If all that's true, this would easily be the definitive release in my books. Don't need higher res than that for games like Borderlands, and so long as the frame rate is decent there's not much more you could ask for.

They should of announced these games earlier because i bought them already for like $13 each on a Steam sell.

you sure you wanna name this "trilogy" since 3 isn't coming (as of yet anyway?) why not legendary collection?

Did you ever own a PS Vita?

@JaxonH Nope! Never even saw one outside of the box. I don't know anyone IRL who got one tbh. It was super expensive at a time in my life where I had no money.

@Ryu_Niiyama
I didnt know there was a proper name for all 3. So I just went with trilogy.

Think everyone knows its Borderlands Remastered, Borderlands 2 and PreSequel though.

@link3710
I don't know anyone in real life who got one

Lol lol if not for my brother, I'd say the same. But me and him went out and each bought one together, just because there was so much PROMISE and hope at the time. Like Portal on handheld. Bioshock on handheld. Assassins Creed on handheld. Etc

Turns out Switch got the Assassins Creed Vita got, but also got mainline entries 3, 4 and Rogue. The best in the series barring Odyssey. And it got not just a mediocre port of Borderlands 2 but the first 3 games. And its actually getting Bioshock (Vita never did), and Bioshock 2 and Bioshock Infinite.

As a Vita owner, Switch feels like Vita x100. The system we wanted when we bought Vita

@CurryPowderKeg79
Eh, pretty much every gamer on the planet owns these games on STEAM. Borderlands Remastered is still $20 on Steam though just for that one game alone. It's been on my wishlist for a while.

I dont think very many are buying for their first time, but rather, double dipping on games they love for a hybrid version with gyro.

@JaxonH I bought my Vita for PSP ports, PS1 Classics, and visual novels, personally, so I've been reasonably happy with mine. Although, for whatever reason, the NA PSN store doesn't host a lot of PS1 Classics for Vita that other regions do, which is irritating.

@Ryu_Niiyama Technically it is a Trilogy there are 3 parts there and they all connect story wise. Even though 3 isn't included, which when included would be a set of 4 not 3 Pre-sequel is indeed a sequel to BL2 as well as a sequel to the first game.

Of course if then there is the Tales game which is canon so in actuality there are 5 games making Borderlands a pentalogy.

But I digress there are three games that connect in that collection and even if the game named 3 isn't included the follow up to 2 is so it is a trilogy.

I mean, I was happy with mine, and still am (would never sell it, even if I never play it anymore) even if it did fall short. Enjoyed at the time mainly thanks to the highlights of Persona 4 Golden, Borderlands 2, Final Fantasy X/X-2, XCOM, Civilization Revolution 2 and Dragon Quest Builders.

Of course, with Switch getting Persona 5 Scramble, Final Fantasy X/X-2 and Final Fantasy XII (not to mention VII, VIII Remastered, IX, XV Pocket, Chocobos Dungeon, World of FF) and Dragon Quest Builders 1 and 2 (and of course, DQXIS), Borderlands 2 and Borderlands Remastered and PreSequel, Civilization VI and now XCOM 2, it really does feel like a fulfillment of the Vita promise.

That and soooooo many other games on Switch, all with gyro, all as console games and handheld games with much better visual fidelity...

It's not a knock on Vita. It's the fulfillment of the Vita.

@Zuljaras
It was, but technically so is the Switch version 😁

It also had like 2gb of downloads/patches (only 4gb carts on Vita afaIk). And was a pretty horrible port all things considered. Pop-in on the main menu even, 2 buttons assigned to touchscreen and 2 to rear touchpad... had to play with fingers extended to ensure you didnt accidentally brush against the backside of the system while playing and throw a grenade or crouch... oh ya... good times.

@JaxonH lol, thanks. I try not to nitpick but I'm a fan of precision in language. Plus the whine brigade has been ramping up so anything to stymie that is work well done.

Anyway I'll get this to show support. Glad I have a 1 TB card. I'm not much of a FPS fan but I did play the original Borderlands on PC when it came out. I'll likely hold on to it for whenever my buddy finally buys himself a switch. That's my trade off. I beat the snot out of him in fighting games and I let him shoot me to swiss cheese as I wander around confused in FPS games.

I love Borderlands 2... have many hours logged in Steam, and I'm seriously considering getting it for Switch. I just wonder what it will be like playing with the controller instead of mouse and keyboard. DOOM isn't bad, but controller play definitely adds an additional challenge to the experience.

I might give the Pre-Sequel a go since it's bundled, but I really have no interest in going back to the original Borderlands. I reinstalled it recently on my PC, and it is so slow paced compared to 2. Even the vehicles feel lethargic.

@JaxonH If I am not mistaken you just pop in the Vita cartridge and can play even if it is unoptimized and buggy, right? And on the Switch you can't do anything with the cartridge?

I am still hoping that they will do some limited edition run/stuff even if it is expensive.

Ryu_Niiyama

@Mountain_Man It is confirmed to have motion controls. So that might be a plus for you.

I'm equally thrilled to have these games on my favorite platform and equally disappointed that the physical release is a half physical, half digital hot mess. I look forward grabbing these once the digital version goes on deep discount. BL1 & BL2, I'm willing to spend $10 each and not a dime more.

So does DOOM, and it works well enough. It's just not as smooth and precise as mouse-aim.
