Hey all i havent bought a Pro controller yet, but i read many negative reviews about the DPad from the original pro controller.
Does anyone has some tips about other controllers that have good DPads.

The 8bitdo M30 has a fantastic Dpad, if you're looking for a wireless controller. For wired controllers, the Retro-bit Genesis 8 button usb arcade pad is a good option. If you want a more modern wireless controller with all the same functions as a pro contorller (minus amiibo reader), then go with the 8bitdo sn30 pro +.

Sn30 pro is pretty nice for the dpad but the joysticks are rather small. Like me, it may be beneficial to have both.

I can verify as @NintenSegAtar said that 8bitdo M30 is an excellent choice. I own a pair of the bluetooth versions for my PC & Switch gaming and couldn't be happier.

@The-Chosen-one
The M30 if you want one for 2D and retro games.

If you just want a controller for all your games that happens to have a good D-Pad, you can use an 8bitdo wireless adapter to use some of your other controllers with the system. It's simple enough to get a Wii U Pro and DualShock 4 working on Switch with it.

I've got the official Pro Controller, and it's got a pretty good D-Pad in my honest opinion.

Are You serious? Can i use my wiiU pro controller with that? Did not know that

@The-Chosen-one Yeah, I'd say it's pretty on point with fighting games.

The d-pad on the official Pro Controller is objectively bad. It’s terrible for both fighting games and 2d platformers.

If you want a good d-pad for 2d platformers, I recommend 8bitdo’s SN30 Pro.

If you want a good d-pad for fighting games, I recommend 8bitdo’s M30 or Retro-Bit’s Sega Saturn controller. Both of them also have a great button layout for fighting games.

@JoakimZ To each their own. I haven't had any issues with it.

@The-Chosen-one Yep. I use my Wii U Pro on Switch via the wireless adapter every once in a while. It works perfectly.

I have to disagree here. My 8bitdo SF30Pro's dpad is almost as bad as the original Procontroller's. Could be bad luck of course, since most people across the board seem to be quite happy with it.

Edit: I'm assuming SF30 and SN30 are interchangeable here with regard to used materials.

My favourite dpad is BY FAR the NSO SNES pad. Downside is that it doesn't have full button layout and it's hard to come by.

@toiletduck Sorry to hear that. My SF30 Pro d-pad was a little bit stiff when it was brand new, but after a few hours play time it has been perfect. And I don’t think I’ve heard or read anything bad about the SF30/SN30 Pro before, so maybe you just had bad luck?

@JoakimZ yeah you're probably right... I may try playing it a few more hours, but so far it's been too frustrating. I'm also still planning to give it the 'Pro-tape' treatment but I haven't found the patience to execute that project.

@toiletduck What is the problem with your d-pad? If it’s stiffness them it’ll probably go away with use like mine did.

@JoakimZ it's stiff and it registers input wrong regularly, a bit like the original Pro's issue. I'll probably give it some more playing time soon.

I'll also throw my vote in for the 8bitdo M30. I love the radial d-pad because it makes diagonals feel more definite to me, compared to the standard cross d-pad.

I don't know why people continues to spread all over the web, that 8bitdo pad has a good dpad....
Nintendo pro controller has the worst dpad ever made (it's enough playing Tetris 99...), but 8bitdo is not the pad to buy in order to replace Nintendo's one.

When people search "Best dpad" you have sites like this, lot of positive reviews by Youtubers...

Do you want to know the truth ? It's enough googling... "8bitdo dpad issue, ghost inputs, scraping etc etc" , all the models are affected, i bought both Sn30 pro and pro plus version and did a lot of comparisons...

Customer service is not aware of these common issues...and with kindness they're habit to say "ask for a replacement". It's not a matter of bad batch, it's the poor quality of materials and testing before put the product in the market. And they're focused to change the reality through reviews on the web, instead of really fixing the issues of the customers.

I use old and new games, i'm a retrogamer and when you play with Megaman, Bomberman, Adventures of Lolo, Zelda and generally games where the usage of dpad MUST be precise and fast, you will quickly note...

It's time that people that googles and find this kind of suggestions, should be warned.

Thanks and share this if you agree with me.
