Sorry for the double post, but I've spent more time with it.

  • It's opened up a bit (the main quest is picking up, I've gotten a new party member, and can take on sidequests) so I'm starting to enjoy it.
  • My only major gripe is that I believe you can only save from your house (there is a "save & exit" option in the menu, but I've never gotten a save notification after pressing it, it just leaves the menu, I haven't been brave enough to test it).

@SwitchForce, after downloading, the DLC is automatically added to your inventory upon starting up your game.

So where do I go see where the DLC is at? I looked but don't recall seeing it.

@SwitchForce, the usable items (bombs, and a few different healing items) are added to your inventory (go to the Harvest Equip section in the menu), the costumes and music meanwhile can be switched out at the cabinet you go to to save the game.

I have to say the DLC is very weak. The girls' own outfits are far prettier. And the bombs are seriously overpowered for the early game and probably unnecessary for the later stages. It's free, so I'm not complaining, but it's nothing special.

Ok, will have to do that later this week when I get some free time to look at the DLC.

I must say, I am liking Lydie and Suelle more and more, both the characters and the game. Alchemy is lots of fun. The music is amazing, and I have just met the cutest shopkeeper in any video game ever. I don't know how long it will last, but I'm really happy I bought this.

Yeah, I took a bit of a break from it because I got a new tablet and was playing around with that the past few days, but I'm starting to get back into it.

I won't spoil when/who does it, but one of the shopkeeps introduces some QOL features. First off, if you give them a certain item you've made, it'll occasionally pop up in their shop from time to time (with the exact same quality & effects, so if you make something really good, you'll have the option to buy it again, instead of going through the trouble of making it), and as far as I'm aware there's no limit of items you can register in the system. Secondly, you can go to their shop at any time to refill the use count of all items you have equipped (so if you only have one use left on those bombs you have equipped, this will replenish your uses on the bombs and all other items you have equipped). You can also set up auto-refill, where your items will refill on uses whenenever you return to the Atelier (it does cost money to refill your items though, so take that into account before enabling auto refill).

I think I'm finally on the final boss, or at least I hope so The Remplir Core in Chapter 11. My Atelier isn't S rank yet though, so there may yet be more....

It's not a bad game by any means, but it's lasted much longer than I thought it would (I'm nearing 60 hours, and while I was fine with extreme length in games such as BotW & XC2, and even FEW, because they were so engaging, this isn't on that level, IMO). It maybe somewhat my fault because I did a lot of the character side quests, but since a cut scene initiates automatically whenever you walk into the part of town they reside in when they have something available, it makes many tough to avoid getting dragged into.

@RR529 I'm about 25 hours in and liking it, but it isn't blowing my mind like the best RPGs. I like the alchemy, but so far I'm not creating anything crazy. Things are still opening up though, I just found the third Mysterious Painting. Had to take a break for Aggrestuko with the kids!

@subpopz Yes, I agree completely. It is nice to try and do a burst of jobs and achieve an objective, then go back to another game.

Hmm. I might buy this game when the money is right. I'm down for a nice, laid-back RPG.

Please let me know before you send me a FC request, thanks.

So, I finally finished it last night! 66 hours in, and apparently I got the "bad" ending (which still seemed pretty pleasant). Apparently there are three more endings one could obtain (it would have been relatively easy for me to obtain the basic "good" ending, but I was ready for it to be over. Maybe I'll go back to it in a bit to nab it), with the "true" ending requiring you to engage in a series of side quests available in the final chapter that would set you off against a number of optional bosses.

Anyhow, it was a pretty decent game. I liked the kind of pastel/watercolor thing the characters had going on, it was cool when you made something really powerful through alchemy (though I didn't find the process to be that fun. I'd rather be out doing stuff, but if you're really into crafting, I think you'd love this), and I thought the battle system was pretty fun (it was fun figuring out how to trigger supports from the back row). I think my favorite of the side quest lines (that I completed) were Corneria's and Drossel & her father's. My only big complaint it that I thought it was waay longer than I thought it should have been (not that I'm against long games, but as I mentioned before, it's no BotW or XC2).

My biggest piece of advice would be sure to buff out your characters at all levels. Craft your own weapons & armor, as the stuff you can buy won't have any enhancements (if you craft it yourself, you can give it traits like "enhance all stats", " HPMP Up", etc), and of course be sure to equip your weapons with core & sub parts which will boost your stats even further. Later in the game, buffing yourself in this manner will get yourself much further than traditional grinding, which isn't nearly as reliable here, IMO.
