@EvilLucario judging by the videos online, it should be fine tho. Platinum know what they're doing, if they target 30fps with a game, they design the gameplay itself around that and it still looks great in motion regardless.

Certainly the Tree house footage was awesome, @Tsurii ....

Cool, looks like there are a lot of people hyped for the game after all! And as @CanisWolfred it makes sense that since it's a new IP, there isn't much in terms of speculation we can do (hence less activity vs other games in long-running series like Pokemon or Zelda).

It just seems quite ambitious compared to their other games - even though Bayonetta is very good, it is first and foremost an action beat em up, while this one seems to have a living breathing world with places to explore and lots of depth. Looking forward to see what people think once the full game comes out in about a month.

That's one of the things that really attracts me to this game. I must say, the E3 Treehouse sessions definitely sold me even more on Astral Chain than I was already. XD

You also hit on the primary reason why I don't expect to ever play the Bayonetta series. The games are all decent, but I'm just not into button-mashing beat-em-ups. Hyrule Warriors was about my limit on that front.

Bayonetta 1 and 2 are weird to me because I have a lot of problems with them, and I definitely like Metal Gear Rising and Wonderful 101 more (and Hyrule Warriors for that matter!). But the fact that I enjoyed it a ton despite the game not entirely being for me says a lot about how great it is, that even I think its great. The sheer quality of it overwhelms my biases against it essentially.

This game looks so good, but I don't think I'll be picking it up at launch because I frankly just don't have the time to sink my teeth into a big RPG right now.

Maybe this winter.

@iKhan @CanisWolfred it's an action game. I doubt it'll be much longer than Wonderful 101, which was like.. 15 hours, I believe? Platinum Games definitely aren't huge time sinks, if you just want to play them casually tho. The time investment comes when you want to go for the best rankings on the highest difficulty and usually they allow everyone to unlock the rewards for that via little secrets and/or "cheat codes". They really respect your time, imo. lol

Alsooooo, a new trailer that shows different aspects of the gameplay is up on YouTube. Game looks lovely

This is looking so good! Will probably be my number 1 Switch game this year.

I had thought this was action/adventure as well. I'm not sure where any commentary might've come in that indicates the game will be a RPG.

I'll have to check out that trailer in a little while.

@Tsurii NieR: Automata was pretty lengthy. Although that was also EXPLICITLY an RPG, which might be the difference.

Huh, I guess I assumed it was a JRPG given the art style.

But, if I'm being honest, there's a pretty fine line between the two. The first three Paper Marios basically sit on that line.
