I noticed the Version 2 stats page shows a few things not included in the Version 1 page - your favourite control scheme, seperate left and right favourite arms, and your most used colour for your favourite character. I guess they had this feature planned from the start, but then decided to add stuff they didn't originally program the game to track. This might be part of why the stats are separated by version, but it's cool either way - gives a little history of your play style.

DNA Lab is apparently my best stage, which doesn't surprise me - I like to hide behind stuff! And I can heal while doing so - Master Mummy is definitely my main at this point.

Finally got to play a bit, had a bad streak for a bit on ranked but I did really well tonight! When I'm doing well and getting hyped is when the game gets really fun (especially when I actually put up a fight). I like to use the Homie and then throw a Revolver, it works pretty well for me and my opponents have a hard time with it.

One thing I need to do is get more arms, I think i've only used the arm getter twice and am under equipped because of it.

Well, it looks like the Max Brass hype has died down already. Hardly seeing him used anymore. Most likely because people realized he isn't nearly as fast as he appeared at first glance (he is comparatively fast for a heavy, but that means average at best in the grand scheme), and Spring Man is way better at abusing his shockwave without forced bulking. Considering spam is the main thing that seems to be looked at in patches, I'd say that's the next big thing to be fixed. Maybe make it decrease in effectiveness with repeated use like Barq's trampoline repel.

Not to say Max isn't still good and versatile. Being able to choose when to dodge or tank hits is a huge boon. Plus, he can't be bullied on wakeup at low health since his auto-bulk to crisis mode is covered by a shockwave.

What's everyone's online ranking?I just started playing ranked matches 2 or 3 days ago and got on fairly well until I reached 6 and now I can't seem to get any further.I'll win a couple then lose a couple and my rank has even dropped back down to 5.I've still got a lot to learn in this game and haven't even attempted level 5 Grand Prix yet so it's no wonder I'm struggling.

lvl 11 here, almost 12. Many ppl seem to szick with the same tactics and ARMS. Too bad u can´t cover and counter to all ARMS types with only 3 different kinds of arms. 4 different would make me win even mor´, sometimes it feels like a gamble what kind of Arms ur opponent is using and yourself

What´s really is annoying is when ppl are disconnecting bcuz they realize they stand no chance. You as the other player gets no rank-up for that but the one who disvonnects lose like a 3rd of his rank for doing it. Can´t understand why those ppl then keep doing it, bad losers I guess

@OorWullie Rank 10 over here. I was briefly Rank 11, but a person I was playing against disconnected and I went down a rank.

Only rank 4 for me, I've not yet really sank alot of time into it, even though I find myself thinking of strategies with Mechanica at work. I really need to sit down with it for a day, winning a match online is soooo satisfying for me.

@meleebrawler Yeah, I'm noticing Spring Man is just getting kind of annoying with his repel. I probably spam it with min-min too, but at least her parry isn't for all moves in all directions, and is visible to the opponent it's happening.

@Masticore Is the rank loss new in the 2.0 patch? I didn't see a rank loss on disconnect pre-2.0.

@OorWullie LV8 for now, though I haven't really been playing ranked thanks to internet problems (my mobile hotspot suddenly as of Saturday double-NATs me so I can't connect online, so I've been trying to hit the indoor router from outdoors at times.....which thanks to Switch's truly awful antenna is a laggy mess. So I've been mostly in Party mode all week (plus little time to play due to various other things.) That said I'm sailing along in Lv7 Grand Prix now....so there's that.

@meleebrawler Which reminds me, that confirmed my theory about Nintendos' netcode (same in splatoon) that "victory favors the lagger!") It's true! I've been lagging like crazy in some of these matches.....the whole game seems to rubberband as a result. I'm getting a lot of punches in when I'm pretty sure I never even hit anyone, and punches sometimes go right through me. I've won a lot of "get out of jail free" cards through that lag. V-Ball is the funniest...the ball moves on its own....I hit it and it never leaves my net, then just changes direction and comes back the other way, and then I swing and miss and somehow it kind of hovers like a bad 1950's sci-fi movie over their net and drops.....it's like it's all just doing dice rolls and the ball has nothing to do with what's actually going on I need to get that fixed.....

In the recent patch Nintendo seems to have added a notification option for future events or tournaments in Arms. Has anyone got any notifications from enabling this about official tournaments for this game?

I am bad at this game. My 8 year olds own me. I have some idea on how the game works, I have watched fighting tips videos, I just suck at it

@blaisedinsd You can have a seat right next to me in the Beaten By Little Kids section. My 9YO trashes me in ARMS and a lot of other games. When I practice regularly I can win about 50% of the time in ARMS, but I can hardly ever beat her in Street Fighter 2. While I'm definitely not the world's greatest SF2 fighter, I'd like to think it doesn't mean I totally suck, rather that kids pick these things up really fast and they have great reflexes.

So it seems this game is getting an update next week, bringing with it some changes. Apparently also hinting at things to come. Probably some form of future character teases or something along the line of that.

The update tweet Google Translates to:

"This is a News Flash!
In the middle of the next planned update of the balance that the information has been sent from the Association of upper ARMS.
Ureshii and other additional information, or not? Please wait for further news!"

I wonder who Ureshii is.

@blaisedinsd @JasmineDragon Screw the kids and their lightening reflexes! Heck, I don't think I had lightening reflexes when I was a kid.... Not sure how they do it!

NEStalgia

JasmineDragon

@NEStalgia I definitely wasn't a kid with lightning reflexes. I was the kid you never, EVER picked for your team unless you were playing an RPG, a strategy game, or Scrabble. So, yeah, it always seems weird to me when we talk about kids and their reaction times, coordination and superior vision, because I had none of those things.

But it's a fact that when I do beat my kid, it's almost always by tactical thinking and learning the system's quirks and loopholes. If I just try to face off and treat the game more or less like a boxing match, I'm toast every time, but if I treat it more like a brawl from an Indiana Jones movie, I stand a pretty good chance.

@JasmineDragon Same team! Internet high-five (and miss)

I'm pretty much the same. Never had great reflexes or coordination (though I was a platformer specialist....but I still haven't lost the magic with those yet, thankfully ) I was always more about the thought-out solutions as well.

Though Arms, like any fighting game is probably more about playing it like that brawl from Indiana Jones, where it's about exploiting the systems than it is straight up reactions. The "fighting" in fighting game is just a pretense for a complicated rock-paper-scissors system of counters and parries. Though Arms seems closer to boxing than most.

OK, so I have noticed a balance issue with Max Brass... by powering up and getting in your face while downed, you're basically helpless to stop his grabs since he won't flinch from punches that you haven't the time to charge. Maybe if he deflated when attempting one...
