@SolarJetman Yeah, I finally picked up Blazing Star the other day. I'd only played it via emulation before now and had forgotten how much fun it is albeit with loads of slow-down in places. I bought Shock Troopers 2nd Squad on release as I had never played that before. It's a fun run 'n gun game but not on the level of the Metal Slug series. I intend to buy the first Shock Troopers in the near future. The original probably edges out the sequel for me but both are worth playing.

As for more arcade games coming to Switch, bring it on! There's still a significant number of Neo Geo games I'd like to get the chance to own on Switch and any more from the celebrated arcade game developers outside of SNK is most welcome too.

Congrats on your Zed Blade high-score. I've never tried that game but know my score would likely be closer to third bottom in the world, lol!

Here's the latest batch of Neo-Geo games heading to Switch:

"Seven more NeoGeo games are on the way. We can look forward to Art of Fighting 3: The Path of the Warrior, Street Hoop, Fighter’s History Dynamite, Soccer Brawl, World Heroes, Top Hunter: Roddy & Cathy, and The Last Blade." (Taken from NintendoEverything)

I'm likely to pick-up Street Hoop, Soccer Brawl and Top Hunter: Roddy & Cathy - Day One. The others I'll likely try on my RetroPie first to see how I take to them or not.

@Lroy Superb, cheers for that. I thought Art of Fighting 3 was all they announced this time. I've been checking every day for the last week.

That's a great list there, I'll be downloading the same as you plus The Last Blade.

Street Hoops looks great, I've had my eye on that one for a while. Soccer Brawl I can actually remember playing sometime way way back, early 90's probably. Top Hunter looks great,I meant to get that on Wii but never did. The Last Blade will be the 2nd last fighter I buy. Just Samurai Shodown 2 to go.

@Farmboy74 Erm...don't want to jinx it but...IN...THE...HUNT!

Never really played In The Hunt although I do know it's a submarine side scrolling shooter, I wonder if R-Type Leo and Mr Heli will be coming to Switch as well?

Oh I hope so.

@Farmboy74 R-TYPE Leo...such a fantastic game. Of course a bit different than the other ones in the series, but just beautifully detailed, and with a excellent soundtrack.

I sincerely hope that we'll see retail compilations of these HAMSTER series one day.

@MegaTen I wish the game icons were the actual Jp / US box art.

@GrailUK Oh, what are they currently? In-game shots with the game's logo pasted on it, or something?

Sigh. So good...

@MegaTen Hehe how did you guess? Now I have to say, I have never played R-Type Leo so ye, it would be amazing to land on the Switch.

@GrailUK I have seen pictures on Nintendo's Japanese page, but didn't know for sure if they were really used as game icons. It's more graphically detailed than the previous entries (which were already solid classics), and a bit more forgiving too, in terms of difficulty. And it uses a different weapon system too. Personally my favorite entry in the entire series (including the PlayStation's Delta)...

@MegaTen Wowsers! I loved Delta. Really wanting to play Leo now

@GrailUK Heh, still that's my opinion, and yours might differ from mine. Must add that I played LEO quite late...years after the release of Delta. I knew about the game since 1993, and was very impressed seeing screens in a German games magazine called Video Games, but was able to play it a decade later. Maybe it's my preference for highly-detailed pixel art which leads to a certain bias, I dunno. But, I can say for certain that if you liked the other ones (I, II, and III) you'll like LEO too. It's also the first game in the series, where two players can play simultaneously...

It never got a console port unfortunately.

I've only ever played R-Type Leo through emulators if it gets an official release on Switch I'll b there day one!

IREM games on Switch. Fantastic news. R-TYPE arcade is a genre defining classic and I'd love the opportunity to play official versions of IN THE HUNT and is it GUN-something? The pair cited as the key genesis behind the evolution of the formula for the seminal METAL
SLUG series.

Which of the Neo Geo fighters is best suited for more of a casual fighting game fan?

I've been able to run through some of the Capcom fighters on the easier difficulty settings (Street Fighter II, Super Street Fighter IV, Tatsunoko VS Capcom, and ironically, SNK VS Capcom 2), but the SNK fighters I've tried so far have absolutely been brutal.

I've tried Samurai Showdown II on Wii, and while I loved the theme, I'm lucky if I beat the third fight. Also tried KoF XIII on 360, but could never beat the boss (not that I really got a chance to get good at it, as our dog ruined the disc a week after I got it... but that's another story).

I know Street Fighter II is on the system, but as I'm just looking for something to tide me over until I can get Mario or Zelda this weekend, I don't want to spend much, which is why I'm eyeing a Neo Geo release.

@RR529 I'd recommend Garou, it looks really nice and plays really smooth. There's not a huge roster of fighters but that doesn't bother me.SF2 moves work with some fighters so it's easy to get into. Just like most arcade fighters it gets tough from the 3rd or 4th but you can lower the difficulty down a notch if your struggling. I'm sure there's 7 difficulty settings with 4 being the default so you should find a setting that suits you.

@OorWullie, thanks, I'll probably grab that one then.

Also, what about Waku Waku 7? I like the art direction in that one (makes it look like it could be more casual friendly, but looks can be deceiving...).
