@faint I watched some game play from it earlier, the guy playing was making it look so easy but I wasn't fooled.I saw many creatures and pitfalls that are guaranteed to take me out over and over again. From what little I've read about it, it seems you continue from where you left off instead of being put back to the start of the level, even after using a continue. That should help keep the frustration away..Well up until the final level where you have to fight 7 mini bosses and a final boss on one continue, fail and you have to beat them all over again.I'll probably never make it that far anyway. It looks really nice though, especially for an early Neo Geo game.
"Currently they are only announcing five Neo Geo titles from the Arcade Archives and havenβt announced the (standard) Arcade Archives series. They are currently focusing on keeping the series on track with continuous releases of Neo Geo Arcade Archives. However, they will definitely bring (standard) Arcade Archives in the future."
They also discussed the possibility of making extra controllers like track balls and twin levers. If that does happen,I can't imagine them making it out of Japan.
@OorWullie They also mentioned looking in to vertical mode for the arcade archives. Anyoo, Neo Geo had about 140 games in total. Sooo...1 a week means they should be exhausted in under 3 years. Then we may see the arcades. Half way through the Switch lifecycle.
I never drive faster than I can see. Besides, it's all in the reflexes.
Great topic thread! The release of arcade games on the Switch has been a huge positive factor in my enjoyment of Nintendo's new system thus far. I'm building up a little collection of Neo-Geo titles (having these cream of the 16-Bit era titles on the go and the big screen, officially and outside of emulation has been super convenient).
I really want to support these arcade releases and have also bought Strikers 1945 and Gunbarich. Long may this trend continue and I would love to see arcade games from other companies such as Data East, Taito, Technos, Cave, Capcom, Konami etc. find their way to the Switch eShop or even a physical collection on cart.
Look forward to following this thread and keeping abreast of future arcade Switch releases. On that note, does anyone have any advice on how to find out the upcoming games such as the next batch of Neo Geo titles to be released? It's fun to know what's coming and get excited for these great arcade titles.
I know Art of Fighting is out today but no idea what future games are coming for the last week of September and October. Here's hoping we get some Halloween/Horror on Neo Geo such as Nightmare in the Dark or hell even SNK's pre-Neo Geo catalogue like that light-gun monster game, Beast Busters?
@Lroy There are certainly a fair amount of great games in the Neo-Geo library. I don't revcall ever being in a position to play arcade games back in the day so there isn't that nostalgia factor others may have, but for me I love playing arcade games. Though personally I am not a fighting game fan so I don't buy these types of Neo Geo games, which unfortunately for myself is a large chunk of their catalogue.
I know the PS4 and I assume Xbox One have Arcade Archive games from other developers outside the Neo Geo titles, such as Double Dragon etc so I would assume they will begin porting them over along with others at some point. Would also like to see Sega bring theirs over via Arcade Archive.
As for what is coming up, Wikipedia may be of some help (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arcade_Archives). Also Nintendo have their Arcade Archive games coming too starting with Mario Bros.

I like arcade games of all genres and whilst high-profile one-on-one fighters came to define the Neo-Geo, SNK's visionary hardware had plenty of diversity too. I'd love likes of Double Dragon arcade and the many side scrolling beat 'em ups that followed to come to Switch. Plus more shoot'em ups please, lol!
Switch has the potential to be an arcade renaissance machine!
Cheers for the link to the wiki. Doesn't seem to be fully correct and up to date? But will keep an eye on it. Thank you.
@Lroy There is an official website if you look up Hamster Corporation Arcade Archives, though again how up ton date that is I am not too sure. Other than that, Nintendo Life post articles on here from time to time detailing each new batch in games to be coming through Arcade Archives.

Thanks again. I've visited the Hamster website in the past - seems less up to date than the wiki in terms of forthcoming releases. Guess it's just a case of waiting for someone who speaks Japanese to alert Nintendo Life's staff once Hamster reveal the next batch of games? I think I read somewhere on here that they tend to reveal the games via a live stream?

So as you probably are aware, Burning Fight is the next Neo-Geo game incoming tomorrow along with (no particular order) Metal Slug X, two more beat 'em ups Robo Army & Mutation Nation and King of Fighters '95 in the next few weeks. I'll likely grab 3 of the 5 methinks. Anyone else picking up any of these?
Also anyone intend to buy the Mario Bros. Arcade Archives release which is out today?
@Lroy Just came to post this news. I'm following this thread but didn't get a notification for some reason. I'm on the fence about Mario Bros, I didn't really like the versions I've played in the past but with this one being the arcade original and with Hamster's high score mode added I'm quite tempted.
I'm back in the UK visiting just now so I haven't really been playing much of anything,by the time I get back to my own place I'm going to have a huge backlog of games to buy. All 3 Neo Geo beat-em-ups are a definite though, along with Metal Slug X. I bought Spinmaster last week and love it.
As for Wulverblade if it does indeed have online co-op then yes sure, I'd love to team up.
@OorWullie Cool, enjoy your visit and safe journey back. Shoot me over a friend invite when you feel like it. I've got quite the collection of Neo Geo games on Switch now, lol! Added Burning Fight yesterday and already played through it. Yep, blatant rip-off of Capcom's Final Fight with a touch of Technos Double Dragon too. No where near as memorable as those two classics but actually a better experience than I had been led to believe. If you grew up loving side scrolling beat 'em ups and were happy to give any iteration of this genre a go be it in the arcade or during the 16-bit era, you'll get some enjoyment from this one.
I'll be picking up Robo Army and Mutation Nation along with Metal Slug X in the coming weeks too!

I love the NeoGeo releases, but I really can't wait until they go beyond that platform ... Contra, Elevator Action, R-Type ... those would be my top hopes.
Currently playing: Sonic 4, Metroid Other M, Battle Lode Runner (TG-16), Dragon Quest IV (DS)
@SolarJetman Yeah, I finally picked up Blazing Star the other day. I'd only played it via emulation before now and had forgotten how much fun it is albeit with loads of slow-down in places. I bought Shock Troopers 2nd Squad on release as I had never played that before. It's a fun run 'n gun game but not on the level of the Metal Slug series. I intend to buy the first Shock Troopers in the near future. The original probably edges out the sequel for me but both are worth playing.
As for more arcade games coming to Switch, bring it on! There's still a significant number of Neo Geo games I'd like to get the chance to own on Switch and any more from the celebrated arcade game developers outside of SNK is most welcome too.
Congrats on your Zed Blade high-score. I've never tried that game but know my score would likely be closer to third bottom in the world, lol!
Here's the latest batch of Neo-Geo games heading to Switch:
"Seven more NeoGeo games are on the way. We can look forward to Art of Fighting 3: The Path of the Warrior, Street Hoop, Fighterβs History Dynamite, Soccer Brawl, World Heroes, Top Hunter: Roddy & Cathy, and The Last Blade." (Taken from NintendoEverything)
I'm likely to pick-up Street Hoop, Soccer Brawl and Top Hunter: Roddy & Cathy - Day One. The others I'll likely try on my RetroPie first to see how I take to them or not.
