@Octane Lots of people take long bus rides... like people going cross-country, for example. It's longer than the 3 hour flight, but the bus is certainly cheaper. Plus, some people love to be on solid ground, not in the air.
God first.

@Octane no typo, I always take the buss if I have the time, so if I'm visiting my mum or grampa I can either take an 8 hour buss ride or a 50 minute flight. The buss usually wins. Trying to keep my footprint as small as possible.
@AlliMeadow That's a long ride then! I've done ~15 hour bus trips, but not frequently at all. The longest time I can see myself using the portable feature is on my 1 hour train ride. Probably not even worth it in my case.
The Nintendo Switch is a great idea, but there are real issues holding it back at this point. Its too literal, we're going back to the days of Nintendo 64, where every so-called exclusive would be called "64" and then we see how that works in the long run because when they do port it, we get titles like "Star Fox 64 3D".
Secondly, it just looks like any other system. the mechanics look unique and phenomenal, but they look like anyone would've come up with this by now. It has this generic grey look. Even the Vita lite stands out with bright colors. Nintendo consoles are known to have a bright and distinguishable look. NES, SNES (with exception of 64), Gamecube and even Wii and Wii U, you can look at it and see what it is. I admit Wii U didn't try hard enough, but the NX really took a step back in design. I feel like Nintendo does this with everything portable related console after GBA. With GBA we got a nice design, but an even better and more recognizable and Homage to the Gameboy/color is the SD version where it looks like a thinner Gameboy that can fold. And then the DS as well had this issue where it looked too boring and indistinguishable.
This doesn't look like a Nintendo console. Its not slick, the color is dull. So far it only comes in one color. And I know people are going to say who cares, but when you have a handheld, or portable device and you will play with multiple on the go, its actually a little more important.
Those controllers for multiplayer do not look appealing at all. I'm sure they look fun, but since they are setup in reverse when you slide them in, it concerns me how the button layout works between players.
its fixed. but I still believe my comment is valid. so I hope someone has a response to that. I haven't had a lot of time to discuss with people who are excited about it.
I am giving the mods more credit at this time that they have enough experience to know that is a clear accident and sometimes its impossible to fix on my end.
and if i'm giving too much credit, thanks for the warning. but i'm not getting a good first impression with this community. how about giving me a chance to change my mind and actually talk about the main topic.
I don't buy enough games lately and am behind on Wii U games enough that I have no reason to want to get ASAP so...yeah...
In a sense this is partially why I'm hyped about the concept. I like Nintendo games so obviously I have a Wii U and 3DS. Even when they were both getting content sometimes there'd be nothing to interest me on one console or the other. And often not the system I wanted to use.
So there's this odd disconnect. You'd have new content available for the system you're not using much. And then no content for the box that you really want to get more use out of. I look at Wii U games that are indie dealeos and wonder if I'd ever actually play it. I look at local multiplayer or bigger games in general on 3DS and think the same.
With this? A new game comes out. You can play it where you want. Done.
Very excited and hopeful they localize Dragon Quest X for it!

1. I am still happy with wii u and 3ds.
2. I appeciate graphics but its not a must for me.
3. I am a little bit disappointed they abandoned the wii u that early on but I guess its just business
4. My ds/3ds backlog is enormous, so is my wii/wii u backlog.
5. Not interested in most third party games, especially not in ubi, ea and activision games - i leave those to the hardcore gamers
I will definitely get the switch qnd play botw on it. But that will be christmas 2017. Enough time to observe where the switch is going, games, sales, bugs, pricing, bundles etc. No need to hurry for me.
By the fact that you created a thread about how disappointing the Switch was before the trailer dropped? Or that I said that in some weird way having too big a backlog is part of the reason why I'm hyped about the Switch? Because I was irritated by the former. I was actually pretty understanding but just had a different perspective on the latter.
I have way too many PC games. If someone released a portable console that could play games from my Steam library anywhere? That'd be amazing. I'd get it in an instant. The Switch doesn't help with my existing Nintendo backlog. But I know it will help me get more enjoyment out of Nintendo games I get in the future. And that's pretty cool.
