Can anyone speculate as to why there is no Switch VC info? I got overhyped by rumors of GameCube games for VC on Switch and Laura Kate Dale's fake posting about Mother 3 being revealed in last month's Direct. Now that disappointment turned into annoyance on the lack of Switch VC info. Anyone thinks this will be revealed before system launch?
I just mentioned in another thread that the lack of information suggests that we will be getting another lackluster implementation of digital accounts and Virtual Console. I hope I am wrong, but I think if Nintendo truly had grand plans for the Virtual Console, they would have already announced them. I suspect we will see something very similar to the Wii U implementation. By not announcing anything, I think Nintendo is giving us some insight into their perceived value of the Virtual Console.
I was expecting info this week. They need to get on it already. We're just 2 weeks from launch.
I don't care how long it takes, I just need my GC VC. I'm not gonna press the issue. They've got all generation. But if I don't see GC on Switch by the time it's predecessor rolls around, I'm gonna light that Twitter feed up so hot not even Reggie himself is gonna touch it.

They might hold back on VC until the online subscription comes into play. That way they can give subscribers their free monthly games and then when the month is up release them for anyone. This way the subscription will feel like it is worth more and they have an excuse to release a few games at a time. It is from a business point of view their best way forward in my opinion. People are more likely to try out "new" games when they're released a few at a time. If Nintendo just dumped their catalogue day one we as their fans would be happier, but many of us would just buy the games we know we enjoy. This is of course only speculation. For all I know they might have the entire VC catalogue of the Wii U ready at launch. Time will tell.

Yeah there's a rumor that details will be revealed 2 weeks before launch:
I'm hoping that Wii VC will be possible, if not at launch then at some point in the Switch's lifespan. WarioWare: Smooth Moves on the move (unless they give us a new instalment in the series) would be brilliant.
"Gee, that's really persuasive. Do you have any actual points to make other than to essentially say 'me Tarzan, physical bad, digital good'?"
I wonder if they'll try to make VC include old third party titles too. That'd be pretty cool if any major title before this gen could become part of the Switch VC library (so sort of like what the Nvidia Shield was). Maybe that's why they're keeping quiet about it at this time as they still have a lot that still isn't quite sorted and want to announce VC when they have some really cool old third party titles to announce alongside their own.
My assumption is that there will be no VC at launch. They don't seem to have even finalised the eshop at this point so I bet they're still working on emulators.
The fact that they haven't even said anything about the Eshop or MyNintendo integration, let alone VC tells me all will be revealed in a pre-launch Direct, rather than they're not saying nothing because it's not ready or it's just going to be the same as on Wii U.Why they're leaving it this late, only Nintendo knows but I'm still optimistic all will be revealed soon.It may even be in the form of a press release but I doubt that. It'll be in a Direct for the fans.
Well in the past, a minimum of 1 day warning (generally longer though) has been provided for Directs. If there's one happening this week it'll be announced today.
I'm thinking the system is just not ready and we'll get VC info in a few months time.
This info (and eshop pricing for remastered games) is actually the decision point for me to cancel my pre-order or not - might sound dramatic , but that's the reality ...
I don't want to buy any of the day 1 games ... but I look the look of the Switch, don't think the price will drop much for a while, and would like some new hardware ...
but I need something to play on it, to justify buying it ... if I can get cheap/free downloads of my Wii U/3DS VC games, or get Mario Kart 8 for $20 or less (since I paid $70 odd for it on Wii U with DLC) then I would keep my pre-order. Otherwise ... I might just leave it some months ...
@617Spn - I think they will offer a discount for MK8 - but it really depends how deep ...
so MK8 Deluxe is a maybe .. Splatoon 2 is a maybe (I want to hear if there is connection issues, I had to 'unblock a port on my modem to get Splatoon 1 online, basically I ended up paying $60 - and another $20 for Amiibo - to play it offline only ... )
I am really tempted to stick to my backlog this year ... so Nintendo, I think Switch is great hardware, offer me some games (VC - that I already paid for ) for it, and I'm in !
They're most likely withholding information in order to control their public relations. It's a simple but good move - only give so much information, and people will talk endlessly about it in this day and age of the internet.
But two weeks prior to launch is surely a good enough time as any to discuss these matters, and quite frankly I'm surprised they haven't even announced a Direct as of yet.
I'm starting to think that the "spread the games" strategy has been applied to the PR info too. Try to spread them to make people talk about the Switch with continuity and maintain high the hype. You guys think i'm too much positive about this?
