@meleebrawler Ah I get what you mean. But well, wouldn't it be a great reward if an AI-controlled Zelda would follow you around after defeating Ganon? Nonetheless, it's still disappointing to see a calamity-filled Hyrule after you defeated the source of it.

About his form: Well, you actually do. For about 80% of the final battle, I kept shooting aroows into Ganon's laser beam. Which in turn is the eye of the Guardians. So you absolutely shoot him in the eye, which made him feel very Gohma-like for me.

My GOTY? Legend Of Zelda: Splat of the child. Ah no, I meant LoZ: Breath of the SPLATOOOON!

@meleebrawler well said, I agree that there would be no reason to expore the overworld after beating ganon so the game gives you the opportunity to finish anything you still wanted to do.

If Ganon was beat on your save slot I dont know if many unfinished side quests or exploring would still make sense

For such an epic build up to the finale I was definitely let down by the easy final boss as well as the abrupt end to the game afterwards. Still really loved the game overall though

Zelda Breath of the Wild in my opinion wasn't too bad, but it was much, much more easier then old Zelda games. Ganon was easy to beat if you had gotten Vah Naboris and food. I had already gotten all four Vah-creatures and they took it stage two where I essentially kept hitting him until he put up his shield where I then used the electric power to get hits on him. Then there was the archery bit. C'mon Nintendo.. C'mon... SMH The boss fight was too easy, It seemed as if fighting all the blights was tougher then fighting Ganon himself. The Lynels were more difficult then Ganon, and the blights TBH. The game overall is very good, but I think they should've added things like "Easy, Normal, and hard" So players once they beat the game could go and replay with a harder difficulty. The enemies should've been evened out as well, power level I mean, Lynels should be tough but not as tough as a blight, and blights shouldn't be stronger then Ganon. All of their Power/attack level should be brought up by a fair amount. And now the DLC rumor goes around saying that we will play as Link, But now Zelda will be here. I'm interested to see how this goes, mainly because we are the appointed knight. We are supposed to follow Zelda around, but now that it's open world and Zelda isn't confined. I wonder how this will go. Will we be forced to follow her around? or will she follow us? Or will she be off on her own and we rejoin her now and then, Plus the bit where she said "it appears that Vah whatever the water elephant thingy seems to not be working" doesn't that just mean that Mipha has left the world and is gone now, so no one can control it? So we are heading over to Mipha's dad, and brother, to tell them more about Mipha and what not plus checking out the thing. So I'm guessing that the DLC will just be Link and Zelda rebuilding and resettling. I hope that after completing the DLC story we can still come back here and there and see progress on the Castle. That's my theory and thoughts XD

I have played and completed every version of Zelda, and must say, BotW is far and away the best yet. I too was deeply disappointed after beating Ganon, and honestly, even after I discovered him in the castle, I intentionally avoided fighting him for a while because I knew (suspected) the game would end with little left to do.

For me, I think my disappointment comes from knowing that this game is over, and I have to wait another year or more for the next major version to come out. That is a compliment to the Nintendo team in a way . In the future, it would be awesome if there is more to do after beating Ganon, but I guess the game is a victim of its own story-line. If you work toward this major battle, finally get there and win, what could happen next? If there was more you would never really finish. Personally, I liked the balance between the difficulty in defeating certain monsters, and the sheer volume of things to accomplish and discover.

I guess this only proves one thing: For me, the journey was far more fun than the destination.

EDIT: After I originally posted this and based on other feedback here, I noticed that I had only completed 18.77% of all of the shrines/quests/karok seeds/ etc. I only had 63 of 120 shrines! So even though I beat Ganon, I have continued playing, primarily to get all of the shrines. I had missed so much, like the entire Gerudo tower and the side quest referenced in the song. Having done this for a week now, it's really just as fun working toward 100% as it was before I beat Ganon! So in a sense, I am far from over. I like this strategy and it's obvious the programmers put a lot of thought into this.

Has anyone hit 100%? Is it even possible?

Yep, but i cleared 100% quests, then 100% map and 100% items.
Now working on 100% master mode.
Then maybe working on getting 100% amiibo content as well.

The lack of post-game content didn't really bother me, but then, I'm one of those people who likes to stop playing when the game is over. Anyhow, I was really happy with the finale. Calamity was on par with most ganon fights for me (not horrendously difficult if you know what you're doing), and Dark Beast Ganon always came across as more of an interactive cinematic than anything, but it had lovely music and was suitably epic feeling.

Story-wise? It depends. The story itself is pretty thin and basic, which I was expecting. I really liked the amount of development Zelda got in this game, though. This is, imo, Princess Zelda's best outing (would have been WW, since I loved Tetra, but I detested how that game treated her near the end of the game).

Not my favorite Zelda game, but a top 3 game in the series for sure.

I understand the complaints about the Calamity Ganon boss fight. I really wish the Divine Beasts didn't take out half of its health, cause that would've made the fight more challenging and satisfying.

As for the seemingly controversial second part of the fight in the field? I loved it, but only later realized how bad Ganon's attacks were. If he had done a variety of attacks (his slow-moving charge beam, guardian laser shots, perhaps some homing missiles/bomb thingies you could destroy with arrows) and had a variety of enemies around (maybe some Bokoblins on horses, some Moblins, some Lizardaflos) it could've been the best final boss fight of all the 3D Zeldas at least. As it stands, it's a bit too easy, but I did love the epic scope and great logic of the final boss fight (putting the final boss fight in the wilds that the game has emphasized and focused on)

All in all? I loved the game, it's probably in my top 5 of all time list, but I don't think it beats Ocarina for me. In particular I wasn't a fan of the lack of story and how Ganon was just a mindless beast. It would've been much nicer if it could talk or have some sort of mindful interactions beyond a generic "incarnation of evil for player to beat."

I just beat Zelda, i thought the ending was amazing, but was so disappointed when it just put me back before the fight. I wanted a world withought ganon, because thats what i worked towords. I hope one dlc will change this, or do the boss fight again than change it. I want a dlc where you can rebuild Hyrule with Zelda. It would be amazing to rebuild Hyrule Castle. I know I shouldent expect to much out of a 20$ season pass, but I can hope. Or make a sequal were this happens...

The "postgame" would be very lame if you couldn't go beat monsters and or have a reason to solve shrines.

Leaving you before the final fight is the only real option in this kind of game.

I kinda feel like I wasted 2 weeks of trying to go beat ganon just so I can see my percentage. It was fun and im nowhere near done with botw, but it feels incomplete... At least I can do the DLC2 that takes place after ganon.

I beat Ganon last night when I was not planning to go for the finale mission. It was pretty epic. The coolest battle I've played. I stumble upon only because I was trying to get that last memory bit that was sitting close to the castle. I still have many side and shrine quest to complete.

Finished this last night. I was surprised at how easy the final battle was, but still enjoyed it. Only got 18% lol.

This is the most dissapointing ending I have experienced in any GAME on any console. I mean atleast have the end game with Gannon beat and allow us to complete the percentage of the game. It would be nice to go back to the lady whom gave us all the quests and spoil us with her telling how great link is for saving the world. I mean I am so damn disappointed that we just get a star and we reload to find Gannon not beat and us in the same spot to fight Gannon again. They could've done so much better with this. It almost makes me not going to buy the DLcS because it will be another bunk ending and well probly just get 2 stars for dlc2 and 3 stars for dlc3. Uhhhhhhh SO Dissapointing nintendo. Ocerina of time has a better ending then BOW. Of course link remembers Zelda.

I agree I felt like everything I did wasn't really worth anything throughout the entire game the NPCs tell you to save Zelda but when you actually do she still ends up trapped cause you go to your last saved spot everytime so you end without fully finishing your quest and with no recognition it was a poorly made end no matter which ending you got T - T it was anti climatic dramatic for no reason there are a lot of plot holes too at this point it wouldn't even matter if they had a sequel and it took the purpose of a lot of things cause they already have so many plot holes T _ T I'm just sad that they worked so hard on botw and they came up with a rather half witted ending the ganon blights or whatever were stronger than ganon himself too the creators paid too much attention to the open world idea that they ignored the actual plot completely and just slapped on a lazy end T __ T (I'm sorry if you strongly disagree and I sound ridiculous it's just what I think about it..)

Well... the story is not much to write home about, but the actual game is what is most important to me, and that is amazing. Nintendo has never bothered with putting together interesting stories, so I wouldn't expect them to do so now. What disappoints me the most is that Calamity Ganon is too easy. I wish he had been a bit tougher (and I'm not talking more health, I mean true difficulty. The end section on horseback is laughable.)

It's a little frustrating that the ones skipping the story get a more enjoyable end battle with all of the Blights piled on there, while the ones bothering with the story and hunts down all of the Beasts basically get punished for it at the end. They could've easily reversed that by being all "If you don't do the Beasts, the Blights will just stay in there and thus not fighting you at all in the game. However, if you do the Beasts, you don't truly manage to kill the Blights, but they escape to wait for you in Hyrule Castle" or something.

All Zelda games end like this. You cannot save your progress anymore once you step into the boss room. It's where you end the game. If you want to continue save before the final boss room. From that point you can go back to complete the rest of the game (or beat the boss to unlock some bonuses and then go back to complete more of the game). In any case save before the last boss. And beat him for the conclusion and ending and don't expect more gameplay after finishing him off. It's always been like this.
