Topic: Advise about price of imports of physical switch games (Shantae)

I heard lots of good news about Shantae, so I am planning to buy it for my Switch. However they mentioned that they are planning to also release it physical (frustratingly no release date or price mentioned). However the company that will release it is (I heard) located in the USA, so it will not get released in Europe (I live in the Netherlands). My question therefore is, how much more will the game probably cost after importing it (either myself or via a game-shop). The game is currently 17 euro's on the e-shop. What price range should I think about. I am asking this because if it will cost twice as much I do not need to wait anymore for them to release the game and instead can buy the game now already. Thanks all for the advice

@essiw There could be a physical EU version. How do you know that they won't release it in Europe as well? Just be patient, but I guess it could mean around 30 euros (about 50% is the additional cost I get importing from Japan via playasia.com).

@maceng because XSeed is doing the physical release, I have searched them up and it is clear that they only release in the USA. As only XSeed is mentioned as the physical releaser there probably won't be a Europe version. However I have heard that it is possible to import games as the switch is not region locked. However I have no experience with importing I have no clue how expensive it will be and whether the wait will be worth it.

Is your 30 euro guess a guess based on that the US physical release would be 30 euro or that after importing the USA release it will cost me 30 euro in total? Edit: I did not read good enough. It is based on that the physical would be 17 euros as well I guess

The reason why I am getting impatient is that I have no clue how long I should wait on the game, and whether the wait is worth it, if they could only state how long (days/weeks/months) it will take them to release the physical (maybe someone here knows how long this usually takes?). The game has already been released on the eshop for nearly 2 months...

Maybe I will not import, it costs more time, money and frustration for little gain...

I don't think there is any gain at all, I think digital delivery has many more positive than the old physical cartridges unless you don't care that much about the game and you are willing to sell it after you have played it but in this case it won't be worth it to import a game you don't care that much in the first place.

@LuckyLand thank you for your input, I agree for the most part but not entirely, I like to have the physical box of games that I like. They are like collectables

Yes I can understand that but if I wanted to collect them in physical form I would not play them, I would like to leave them factory sealed so I would buy a digital copy to play it anyway. I feel like I somehow "spoil" a thing after I use it so I couldn't consider it part of a collection

I always buy physical. I like having a collection of games- and if the game is not worth playing then it's not worth owning in the collection.

But I import fairly regularly. I imported I Am Setsuna for the English Asian physical version, I'm importing Monster Hunter XX, I've got at least half a dozen imported Vita titles from EU and Asia...

It's not much more expensive than it would be if it released in your own country. Shipping for a game isn't that much. $10 overseas, something like that.

Slightly off-topic, but...

...whenever I read about this game, the first thing that always pops in to my head is one of RuPaul's catchphrases!

@LuckyLand I think that is a different kind of collecting. That wouldn't feel right for me, as I would feel like I wasted my money (because you cannot play the game unsealed), I also do not care much about the seal, I just like the boxes.

Thanks, I will keep that into consideration for next time. In this case the extra cost was not only the importing costs, but also that the physical game would most likely be more expensive than the digital one.
