When things get settled I would like to Host a MarioKart night for Switch if anyone would be interested? We can start a MarioKart group called GeezerGamers

@roy130390 Alright that makes sense

@MalcontentsUnite I send you a friend request.

@adam9431 I gotta agree. I'm really starting to feel rather young again ... If this keeps up, maybe my thinning hair will even come back

Btw, is there really NO way to exchange message on the Switch outside of any game? Like to setup a 'playdate' for example? I gotta say, I knew the options were limited, but I wasn't quite aware how limited or mire like, that there were no apparent options for communication at all .... basically you have to use another app or venue, like this, to get be able to get in touch with one another? Jesus =(

@JasmineDragon @Sasmondo 52 here. Older than Dirt I'm so sad.......My kids have moved away and I have nobody to play Bomberman 94 against. I did play online with my Grand son the other day but it was an Android game. Wow! How things have changed

Curses! I knew there would be someone older than me to steal my Yoda rank. There's always one guy... 😉

I'm always game for some Mario Kart in the "Adult League" if the time zones and work schedules can be managed. I'm US Eastern Time. I know a lot of people here are British, so that could be tricky, but feel free to go ahead with it even if I can't join. Fortunately, I get a lot of multiplayer gaming with my kids, so no worries.

Yep, it's Nintendo all right! There is the app, but I haven't even checked that out yet, and won't do it unless there is a really compelling reason to. The last thing I need is another bloody app chirping at me 24/7 and wearing out my battery.

adam9431

@Ralek85 ya there is no other way to communicate ..... we could always set up a blind date through here .... I mean gaming date .... bahahaha

adam9431

Ralek85

@JasmineDragon I haven't checked out the app yet either, but from what I understand from the 'reviews' (that's where we are at apparently, we need reviews for chat solutions on a console Oo), you can only use the app to communicate as long as you are already within the same lobby (within the same game). So basically, if you want to ask someone "play XYZ?" ... all you can do is send them an invite and hope/wait for the best.

I don't know maybe that is subject to change, but afaik that is the current approach Nintendo seems to be taking. And yeah, that is not taking into account, that I'm not that keen on another battery draining and attention demanding app neither. It's not an absolute no-no, but it's less than enticing for sure.

@adam9431 I guess so, as long as folks keep tabs on the thread and as long as it does not becomes to crowded and eventually confusing. I think eventually making an extra thread would make more sense

It's kinda baffling considering how easy it is to get something like this organized on PSN. There is a PSN app as well, but really is only optional. All you need to do, you can do through the PS4 itself. With Nintendo ... even with the app, you can't stop yourself from running into road blocks

I hope they figure this out, because right now it kinda feels .. anti-social? I dunno ... to quote a 'great' leader: "Sad!"

i run through those way too much

One evening in college, my friend Drew was eating a bag of Funyuns.
He may or may not have dropped some acid an hour or so before.
(He totally did.)
I may or may not have joined him in that endeavor.
(Yup.)
While eating the Funyuns, he began to read the packaging.
"Onion Flavored Ring," he recited, thoughtfully.
"Onion FLAVORED Ring."
"What the hell is the Ring made out of?"
We were perplexed about that concept for an hour.
Or perhaps it was five minutes.
Time moves differently whilst travelling through otherbrainspace.

We never did figure out what the Ring was made of. Perhaps stardust; perhaps dreams.

lmao

@ogo79 Uh-oh, triggered! Pancakes in almost every restaurant/diner/burger joint are an adventure in artificiality. You get artificial butter made primarily from corn syrup solids and artificial maple syrup made almost entirely from HFCS, to go on your "pancake" which is made from a commercial mix loaded with artificial junk to improve its shelf life. You HAVE to put a ton of syrup on them because the "pancakes" taste like paper and have the mouthfeel of a dry sponge without it.

Real pancakes contain 8 ingredients - and you can do without 2 of those in a pinch, although they won't be as good. They take about five minutes to prepare and maybe twenty minutes on the stove for a whole batch. They taste and feel good enough to eat without anything on them, but you add your real butter and real maple syrup, maybe a little sliced fruit, and you are looking at the breakfast of the gods.

I am not generally a food snob, because I am a very lazy chef. I eat a ton of junk food. But pancakes are so ridiculously easy to make, and SO MUCH BETTER when they are made with real ingredients, that I can't stand eating them any other way.

Today's rant was brought to you by the letter Aleph and by OPAPA - Old People Against Pancake Awfulness. And by viewers like YOU! 😎

Flour, milk, eggs and a pinch of salt. Unless you count the butter in the pan, but that's technically not an ingredient. What else do you put in a pancake?

A little butter goes in the mix (none in the pan, you don't need it). Also baking powder, sugar and vanilla. The baking powder and the vanilla are the optional ingredients, but trust me, they are worth it.

Ain't no wrong way to do it, and I've seen a ton of different recipes with variations on the theme. I actually make mine with a mixture of rice and tapioca flours and potato starch because I have celiac disease and can't eat gluten - but except for the flour substitution, I've been using the Joy of Cooking recipe for decades, and I like it better than anything. It is so just right to me, fluffy and filling so you're good with just two or three of them. But I can definitely enjoy other versions, including the awesome crepes my wife makes. (Wife is a professional chef with MASSIVE talent.)

Your pic there is thinner than the cakes I make, more like crepes almost, and I can dig it. You would not need baking powder for those, I think.

(I am also a real snob about my syrup, being a Yankee by birth - only actual maple syrup, preferably from Canada, Vermont or Connecticut. Or some nice flowery honey. Mmmm.)

I know, but I swear I'm not a snob. You should see me get on a hamburger or a taco.

(And DAMN, i really want some pancakes now.)
