Im about to swap out my 64gb for a 256. Is there anything i need to make sure of first? Its just a case of popping it in and then go to the eshop and redownloading everything? All my saves will be good? Ill make sure its all on the cloud first too.

Just remember DO NOT buy MicroSD cards off Ebay, Aliexpress, Mercari. Etsy, Amazon ect. ect. According to Sandisk the #1 seller of MicroSD's over 50% are fake on these sites. Your best bet is to buy from a respectable brick and mortar place. I use Best Buy and have them Price match Amazon. But i'm sorry to say i don't know to much about U.K.stores so just be careful when buying. And if your going with a Sandisk you don't need their top of the line models as Switch can't make use of the added features. And if you can afford the Sandisk Ultra 400gb for like $54 (U.S) you won't regret it.

And MOST IMPORTANTLY always turn your Switch off not just sleep mode TURN IT OFF before taking MicroSD Cards in and out.

They are right counterfeit sd cards are a problem. But if a Sandisk has the "Amazon's Choice" label and close to 1000 or 1000+ reviews with a very positive rating, those are a pretty safe buy on Amazon US - dont know how other Amazon regions are. I'm mainly mentioning this for any US readers.

I did fine upgrading my card reading the Switch manual and using Nintendo site support if I wanted more detail. I used a PC to copy the contents from my old card to the new card.

Where is the link? Amazon doesn't police it's sellers that would violate their TOS agreements. Buyers needs to use common sense when a 1tb cost only 54$ that is a RED FLAG. And report that to Amazon to remove fakes hardware ads.

You mean Amazon. Actually Amazon prices for legit version are price match as well and Prime members benefits more. Now days one needs the 1tb sandisk as your collection grows so will the memory needs grow.

Yeah I would just reiterate: make sure you buy from a genuine company. Cheap ebay sellers are fine for lots of things but SD cards is NOT one of them.

Buy from one of the famous companies on Amazon whose products have a lot of positive reviews.
If you're in the UK, Base.com has a lot of good offers on memory cards too. All genuine products.

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.
